Sony is marking 10 years of PlayStation in China with a surprising new product: a PlayStation-branded fitness tracker. Unveiled on PlayStation China’s Weibo account, the device comes in a distinctive blue box and appears to be a rebranded version of the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro, rather than an original creation. This collaboration brings together PlayStation’s iconic branding with the sleek design and functionality of Xiaomi’s popular wearable.
Take a Look at the PlayStation-Branded Fitness Tracker
At first glance, the PlayStation version of the fitness tracker doesn’t have many design changes. The main update is the strap, which now features PlayStation’s famous button symbols (Triangle, Circle, Cross, and Square) along with the PlayStation logo. The rest of the tracker looks very similar to the original Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro, combining PlayStation branding with Xiaomi’s wearable tech.
The PlayStation-branded fitness tracker comes with a special strap, but the box also includes a plain black strap, a commemorative card, and a charging cable. Sony has not said yet if the device has any software changes to show off the PlayStation brand.
For the hardware, the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro performs well as a budget tracker. It has a 1.74-inch OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits brightness for clear viewing in different lights. The device’s body is made of aluminum and is water-resistant up to 5 ATM. As a result, you can wear it while swimming. It’s also very light at 24.5 grams and only 10.8 millimeters thick. It makes it easy and comfortable to wear all day.
As a fitness tracker, the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro has key features like heart rate monitoring. It also has SpO2 tracking, sleep tracking, and menstrual cycle tracking. Furthermore, it also supports over 150 sports modes and GPS tracking. It boasts impressive battery life, with up to 21 days of use on a single charge.
Sony hasn’t said yet if the PlayStation-themed fitness tracker will be sold outside of China. Since limited-edition PlayStation items usually stay in certain areas, it’s unlikely to be available worldwide. However, for PlayStation fans in China, this could be a cool and special item to add to their collection.
