  • Is Castorice Dead in Honkai Star Rail? Answered

Honkai Star Rail 3.2 trailblazing missions are lore-heavy, but we are here to break it down for you. With the story primarily focusing on Anaxa’s grand plan and Castorice’s past, it had some players, like me, sobbing by the end of it. As Anaxa executed his grand plan as the ‘Great Performer,’ and Castorice took her place as the demigod of life and death, a lot of questions were left unanswered.

One big question that has stumped many in the community is whether Castorice is dead in Honkai Star Rail. Here, I have tried deciphering the little details from the mission to answer this question.

    Spoiler Warning:

This guide contains major spoilers for the Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Trailblazing mission. If you haven’t completed the HSR 3.2 trailblazing mission, then we recommend you do that first. You’ve been warned.

Castorice’s Past Explained in Honkai Star Rail

Image Credit: Hoyoverse/Honkai Star Rail (screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

Castorice had a troubled past, which eventually led to the conclusion of Honkai Star Rail 3.2. The earliest memories Castorice had of her childhood were of her time in Aidonia, where she acted as the Executioner, bringing death to prisoners and those that seek it alike. She was revered as the ‘Maiden of War’ in Aidonia and was both feared and respected by the people.

Castorice was raised by Amunet, one of the elders of Aidonia who also was the mother figure in her life. However, Castorice’s past goes further back and is connected to the last cycle of Amphoreus, the latest region in HSR.

During the HSR 3.2 Trailblazing mission, it is revealed that Amphoreus is in a constant state of changing cycles, as the last cycle’s Chrysos Heirs became the Titans of today and reshaped the world. Castorice was one of the twins chosen to become the demigod of life and death during the last cycle.

However, to get the coreflame of Thanatos, she had to kill her twin sister Pollux, which she didn’t want to do. So, Castorice gave up her life instead for Pollux to become the Titan of Life and Death — Thanatos.

But instead of fulfilling her duties as a Titan, Pollux decided to bring back Castorice to the new world. The boss then transformed herself into the evil dragon and carried Castorice’s soul from the River of Souls, bringing it to the new world. Furthermore, she used her dead body to stop souls from entering the River of Souls, leaving them wandering around without finding peace.

Born as the twin of Pollux, Castorice shared half of the ability of Thanatos since her birth — the curse of death. Everything Castorice touched would die, and it all stemmed from the blasphemy done by Pollux to save her from death.

Castorice’s Ascension into Thanatos, Titan of Life and Death

Image Credit: Hoyoverse/Honkai Star Rail (screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

Eventually, Castorice and the Trailblazer reached Styxia to find Thanatos and retrieve her Coreflame. They came across Pollux, the evil dragon, and realized that she was blocking the path to the netherworld, leaving the souls of those in Styxia to roam forever without finding peace.

Castorice and the Trailblazer realized that they have to defeat Pollux to retrieve the coreflame of Thanatos. After defeating Pollux, the Trailblazer started to lose consciousness. Realizing that the Trailblazer’s soul wouldn’t last longer, Castorice stepped into the Netherworld to face Thanatos.

In the Netherworld, Castorice, one of the best HSR characters, finally came across her twin sister from her past life, who is also the current Titan Thanatos.

After speaking to each other, she finally put her to eternal sleep and became the demigod of life and death herself. After that, we see Castorice revive the Trailblazer, displaying her full power as the new Titan of Life and Death.

Now comes the main question — Did Castorice die at the end of the Honkai Star Rail 3.2 mission? The answer is both yes and no. Confused? Let me clear it up for you.

After Castorice took the power of Thanatos, she chose to remain in the Netherworld to make sure the passage of souls returned to normal. In her last interaction with the Trailblazer in Honkai Star Rail 3.2, Castorice confirms that she will stay in the Netherworld, the land of sorrows, and turn it into a beautiful place for the souls, as she gave Thanatos’ Coreflame to the Trailblazer.

Castorice's proof that she once lived in Honkai Star Rail
Image Credit: Hoyoverse/Honkai Star Rail (screenshot by Sanmay Chakrabarti/Beebom)

This also means that Castorice won’t be returning to the land of the living as Netherworld is the place where only the dead can reach. So, we can say that Castorice, as we know her, is dead and cannot come back to the land of the living.

However, Castorice has taken over as Thanatos and rules over the power of Life and Death in Amphoreus from the Netherworld. This means there is a possibility that she isn’t truly gone from the story and may appear again later in the game in the Netherworld.

Honkai Star Rail 3.2’s Trailblazing mission was heart-touching and brought a ton of information about Amphoreus to light. If you’ve played through it, tell us what you liked the most about the mission and whether you think Castorice is dead or not.

  • Sony Brings PS5 Animated Backgrounds for Select Users

One thing a PlayStation user loves is having a little fun with the customizations of their console. Whether it is adding new colors to the box, changing controller skins, or getting new themes on the homescreen, modifications keep the aesthetics of a PlayStation exciting. Well, it’s now the UI’s turn, as it seems a new PS5 update has launched animated backgrounds for a limited number of users.

First shared by @chi_m02 on X, the post suggested that Sony is slowly rolling this update out on PS5. While many might think it is a feature available only for the PS5 Pro, users on X have denied this by saying that they spotted the new animated wallpapers on the base version as well. More static wallpapers were also added to the gallery for players to use.

    All PS5 Confirmed Animated Backgrounds

Remember that these are only home screen wallpapers for PS5 that you customize. This means you will not get a full theme when you equip them. Currently, 13 confirmed Sony IP animated wallpapers are included in the list. Here is the list of all the PS5 animated wallpapers confirmed so far:

    • Astro Bot
    • Days Gone
    • Demon’s Souls
    • Ghost of Tsushima
    • Ghost of Yotei
    • God of War Ragnarok
    • Horizon: Call of the Wild
    • Horizon Forbidden West
    • Lego Horizon Adventures
    • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
    • Rise of Ronin
    • Stellar Blade
    • MLB The Show 25

As we said earlier, a lot more wallpapers have been added to this update. However, all of these wallpapers are primarily static or non-game-themed. So, don’t expect the 25th Anniversary classic PS5 theme experience. With the customizations in full swing, the PS5 and PS5 Pro seem ready to provide a more premium user experience.

Have you received this PS5 animated wallpaper update yet? Which wallpaper are you equipping first? Do tell us in the comments.

  • This Might Be the Budget Smartwatch You’ve Been Waiting For

Redmi fans won’t have to wait much longer. The brand’s next smartwatch after their Watch 5 model a few months ago —Redmi Watch Move—is officially dropping on April 21. The announcement came straight from Redmi India’s social post on X, setting off buzz among wearable tech enthusiasts.

What’s catching everyone’s eye? An AMOLED display. It’s a bold shift, offering punchier colors, deeper blacks, and the kind of sharpness that makes older models look dated. From the teaser, it’s clear the design leans sporty. A standout crown on the right suggests more hands-on control, which is a nice touch for users who value both form and function.

    Redmi Watch Move

    Refined Looks, Practical Features

In its own words, Redmi India calls the watch “long-awaited and finally here,” tapping into months of anticipation. At first glance, it has the polish of a premium watch, but it’s built for everyday wear. The frame is slim. The display stretches edge to edge, and there’s a familiar minimalism that feels very Redmi.

Style-wise, it won’t be a one-size-fits-all deal. Early marketing leaks point to four colorways:

    • Classic Black
    • Clean White
    • Midnight Blue
    • Elegant Rose Gold

It’s a smart move. These shades cover everything from neutral and sleek to soft and sophisticated, giving the watch broad appeal.

    Battery Life That Doesn’t Quit

Here’s something that might win over skeptics: a claimed 14-day battery life on a single charge. That’s two full weeks without reaching for the charger—a feature that could be a dealbreaker (or maker) in this segment. Redmi seems to be zeroing in on real-life convenience, not just specs on paper.

    Redmi Watch Move

    Smarter Health Tracking, New Software

Redmi isn’t just slapping a fresh screen on an old device. According to leaks, the Watch Move steps up its fitness tracking game. Lab tests by Xiaomi reportedly show 98.5% tracking accuracy, signaling improvements under the hood in health monitoring.

What’s more intriguing is what’s running the show. This will be one of the first smartwatches to ship with Xiaomi’s new HyperOS, a system previously reserved for its smartphones and tablets. Expanding HyperOS into wearables could mean better integration, smoother performance, and more cross-device features.

    Price and Market Strategy

Redmi hasn’t confirmed the price yet, but based on the brand’s track record, we can expect it to sit comfortably in the affordable range. And with premium specs like AMOLED, extended battery life, and a fresh OS, it’s likely to shake up the budget smartwatch scene.

The Redmi Watch Move hits the Indian market on April 21. Whether you’re in it for the fitness features, battery life, or just a good-looking watch that won’t break the bank, this one’s shaping up to be worth a look.

  • Trump Raises China Tariffs to 125%, Announces 90-Day Pause for Others

We are in the midst of a trade Cold War between the US and China, as both countries are countering one another with drastically increasing import tariffs. Just yesterday, Trump imposed a 104% tariff on all goods exported to China. Now it’s been increased to 125% as a response to China’s retaliatory response.

The President-elect, in his recent Truth Social post, shared, “Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately”.

He further mentioned, “I have authorized a 90-day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter”. Thus, putting a pause for countries that haven’t retaliated against Trump’s recent tariffs imposed upon them by the U.S.

After this announcement, S&P saw a hike of 9.5% as reported by the New York Times. In the same post, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt discussed that the current tariffs will be brought down to 10 percent universally, except for China. Especially those that produce a large amount of goods for the U.S., like Vietnam.

However, this still doesn’t sound like good news for the consumer electronics sector. That’s because, most of them are imports from China. These new increased tariffs are more than double the import cost, skyrocketing the price of many devices. Some of its effects are already being seen. Nintendo has delayed its Switch 2 pre-orders and Razer and Framework are pausing shipments. We could see drastic effects soon if the two nations don’t come to a diplomatic settlement.

  • Here’s Why Bella Ramsey Was Never Recast as Ellie in The Last of Us Season 2

The live-action adaptation of the The Last of Us video game instantly became a critical success and fan-favorite TV show when it debuted in 2023. However, one vital decision that keeps bugging part of the fanbase is the creators’ casting choice for Ellie. The British actor Bella Ramsey was cast in the role of Ellie and proved the naysayers wrong with their impressive performance in Season 1.

Still, that was not enough for some fans, and they continued to demand that the creators recast Bella as Ellie in The Last of Us Season 2. Ahead of the second season’s premiere, the showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin opened up about why recasting Bella Ramsey as Ellie was never a topic of discussion.

Image Credit: Beebom (via HBO and Naughty Dog)

In an interview with GamesRadar, Druckman mentioned, “We’ve considered recasting Bella exactly zero percent.” Mazin elaborated on Bella Ramsey’s (pronouns they/them) casting and said, “I’ve spent so much time with them, and I’ve watched them grow up from 17 years old now to 21 years old. And at our age, four years doesn’t mean a damn thing. 17 to 21 is massive. So Bella themselves has changed and evolved quite a lot.”

Mazin further added, “It’s funny, even my relationship with Bella, I’ve watched sort of like a Joel and Ellie relationship where they were like my kid and then it was sort of like you have to let them go a bit and let them be now their own person more and to be side by side with them. And that’s why I think Ellie seems older because Bella is older. And in fact, Bella is older than Ellie is in the show.”

So, you can see why the creators felt that Bella Ramsey was tailor-made for the role of Ellie. Mazin expanded by emphasizing that the heart and soul of the character matter more to them than the physicality:

So, to us, it’s always been less about physicality and always about the heart and soul. And I think they did an incredible job. We didn’t actually do anything to age them up. We just wrote the character to be older. And, big surprise, Bella Ramsey portrays it gorgeously – Craig Mazin

Coming back to Druckmann, he provided additional insight to highlight Bella Ramsey’s incredible acting skills:

When you’re watching Bella perform, you could just see this maturity behind their eyes. That is, it seems very simple and it’s very difficult to pull off and very few actors can pull it off that they have – Neil Druckmann

Initially, I was also skeptical about this casting choice. But Bella Ramsey as Ellie won not only my heart but also the fans’ hearts with their terrific performance in TLOU Season 1. So, I can’t wait to witness more of Bella’s performance in Season 2, premiering on April 13, along with other new The Last of Us Season 2 cast members. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on Bella Ramsey as Ellie in the comments below.

  • How to Get Strange Mask in Dead Rails

Being one of the most popular Roblox titles right now, it’s no secret that everyone is on Dead Rails. However, while defeating the undead sounds easy, it’s more painful than you think. But have you wondered what turning the Dead Rails zombies into your allies would be like? Well, the latest Strange Mask in Dead Rails lets you do just that. However, getting it might be a bit more difficult than you think. Let’s make it easier for you as we dive deep into the mines and teach you how to get the Strange Mask in Dead Rails here.

How to Get the Strange Mask in Dead Rails

The Strange Mask can be found in the Sterling Mines in Dead Rails. This city will spawn at any random location throughout your journey, around 10,000-30,000 meters or between 60,000-70,000 meters. Keep an eye out for the huge banner that says Sterling, which will indicate the entrance to the city.

Image Credit: Dead Rails/Roblox (screenshot by Bipradeep Biswas/Beebom)

Thankfully, Sterling doesn’t have any wandering enemies just yet. Once there, follow the steps below:

    • Go behind the town to find a mineshaft blocked by several wooden planks.
    • Destroy this barricade using dynamite and a torch. If you’re new here, pick up a dynamite beside the minecarts, and get a torch from the Sheriff’s office.
    • Place the dynamite before the planks and ignite it with a torch. This will break the planks, allowing you to head inside. However, be cautious as you go in.
    • As you enter, you will encounter many Dead Rails zombies. Use your best gear to deal with them.
    • Once done, make your way, take the first left from the entrance, and walk the same path without taking any turns.
    • This will lead you to another room, again blocked by wooden planks. Use dynamite in the same manner as before to break open the passageway and head inside.
    • Here you will find the Strange Mask and a few gold and silver bars on the tabletop.
    • However, don’t pick up the Strange Mask just yet. It’s a trap that will spawn werewolves.
    • Instead, you must first pick up a gold bar and place it on top of the mask.
    • Now you can pick up the Strange Mask in Dead Rails without any problems.

And that’s how you get the Strange Mask. Considering you’re already in the Sterling mines, why not make your way and get the Jade Sword in Dead Rails too?

All Uses of Strange Mask in Dead Rails

Much like the Jade Sword, the Dead Rails Strange Mask will bring your enemies back to life, but as your allies. To use it, simply walk up to an undead body and interact with it. Once done, a lightning bolt will strike, and they will rise up. I highly recommend using this item on powerful enemies like Werewolves to strengthen your undead army. The technique is beneficial in areas like the Castle and Outlaws’ Town.

However, one disadvantage to reanimating the dead using the Strange Mask is that they might kill your tamed animals as well. Furthermore, your army of the undead will only stay for 2-3 minutes before dying again. After that, you can no longer bring them back to life.

    Strange Mask Dead Rails
Image Credit: Dead Rails/Roblox (screenshot by Bipradeep Biswas/Beebom)

There’s a single loophole: killing them before the stipulated time and using the mask to reanimate them can work infinitely. However, killing more enemies and using the mask on them is simpler. You might use the mask to resurrect Nikola Tesla as well.

Finally, the Strange Mask is a highly valuable item in Dead Rails right now. It can be sold for 250 cash, which is in the same range as the Jade Sword, the Brain in Jar, and the Unicorn.

And that’s how you get the Strange Mask in Dead Rails. Have you gotten this item yet? Let us know in the comments below.

  • City of the Wolves returning to the series for the first time in 27 years

Ring outs may also be making a return as well

Lane switching used to be one of the most novel fighting aspects of the Fatal Fury series, but we haven’t seen it really used again in a long time.

That’s about to change, however, with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

During today’s Fatal Fury Evo Showcase, SNK revealed a two-lane battle mode is featured in City of the Wolves as well.

It’s not entirely clear if this will be included in a separate Versus mode or battle settings that can be used to add a more classic flair to the action.

On top of that, we also get to see some actual gameplay footage of the two-lane battles in action too at the event.

Like before, players can use the lane switch to dodge projectiles and certain attacks by moving into the background.

It looks as though there will also be some attacks that can cause a lane switch or can hit players in either lane.

Two-lane battles will be available at launch on certain stages with more planned for the future, and you can try it out in Training Mode as well.

The feature was first included in Fatal Fury: The King of Fighters but hasn’t been seen in 27 years since Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 considering Garou: Mark of the Wolves did away with it.

On top of that, it sounds like the developers are also working on adding another Real Bout feature to the game in the future too.

Jonathan ‘KrispyKaiser’ Campana teases that ring outs could be coming down the line as well though it’s not clear if that would be for the base fighting mode or part of the two-lane mode discussed here.

This is also the same event where SNK announced Hokutormaru as the final base roster character of the new Fatal Fury.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to release on April 24 on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

  • Nintendo indicates that the Nintendo Switch Online GameCube controllers are only compatible with the Nintendo Classics service

Nintendo finally unveiled details about the Switch 2 during their latest Direct presentation livestream. At one point, Kirby Air Riders was revealed, which is enough to tell us that we’ve still got several years of waiting ahead of us before the next entry of the Super Smash Bros. series is developed for the Switch 2.

On the other hand, we’ll still be able to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch 2 as it has been listed as a game that will be compatible on the new system. The GameCube library is also coming to the Switch 2 via the Nintendo Classics of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.

Notably, Super Smash Bros. Melee is not among the games in the Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics library. It’s currently unknown if Nintendo will ever bring that particular game to the service, but it is important to note that Super Smash Bros. Melee ended up being the best-selling game on the GameCube.

Regardless, Nintendo also revealed Nintendo GameCube controllers specifically for the Nintendo GameCube Nintendo Classics subscription. These are essentially wireless GameCube controllers with the added “C” button that opens the Switch 2’s chat functionality.

While these controllers seem interesting, there’s an caveat that’s important to take note of. During the video that revealed this peripheral, there was a disclaimer declaring that this “controller is only compatible with Nintendo GameCube — Nintendo Classics.”

This seems to suggest that the peripheral won’t be usable when playing a game like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which already utilizes the GameCube controller as the main input device of choice for most players. If this ends up being true, then we also won’t be able to use these controllers for the next entry in the Super Smash Bros. series, assuming that it does eventually make its way to the Switch 2.

Of course, it is important to acknowledge that Nintendo has dropped this disclaimer for other Nintendo Classics controllers, but that disclaimer has sometimes proven to be untrue. We’ll just have to see when the Switch 2 (along with this GameCube input device) is launched on June 5, 2025.

  • City of the Wolves character

After first getting announced last year, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is almost here, and now we know everyone that’s going to be included in the game.

During the Fatal Fury Evo Showcase today, SNK announced Hokutomaru as the final remaining character of the base roster following Cristiano Ronaldo and Salvatore Ganacci.

Hokutomaru was of course introduced in Garou: Mark of the Wolves as a young ninja training under Andy Bogard, and he appears to be a bit older now after the passage of a little time from the last entry.

He’s also ditched the wooden sword to fight with primarily only his hands and feet although he does still toss shuriken like the last game.

The young shinobi has some familiar and new tricks up his sleeve that he’s presumably learned from Andy.

We get to see the big elbow as well as more ways to use his shuriken and some explosive new attacks.

It appears Hokutomaru will be a strong rushdown / mixup character who is also not afraid to fight from a bit of a distance.

Hokutomaru joins the cast of 17 characters including Rock, Terry, B. Jenet, Marco, Preecha, Hotaru, Vox Reaper, Tizoc, Kevin, Billy, Mai, Kim Dong Hwan, Gato, Kain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Salvatore Ganacci.

There’s also the Season Pass available free to those who pre-order the game that features Street Fighter’s Ken and Chun-Li as well as Andy, Joe Higashi and Mr. Big.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to release on April 24 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

You can check out the full trailer for Hokutomaru below.

How to Play Connections: Tips & Tricks to Solve the Puzzle

Given the fact you’re here, chances are that you already know how to play NYT Connections. As you might be able to tell by now, Connections by The New York Times is a word association game where players sort out 16 random words into four categories by finding a common ‘connection.’ This can be anything from a common sound to a deeper meaning.

That said, if you’re still confused, here are the best tips on how to play NYT Connections:

    • Simplicity is key: Connections will often throw ambiguous words at you. While it’s easy to get caught up in the details, the answer almost always lies in the simplest connections possible. So, instead of dear and deer being connected through a hunter-prey dynamic, they most likely connect because of a similar sound.
    • Watch those guesses: A key thing to note is Connections only gives you four chances in 24 hours for a single puzzle. As such, we advise not being trigger happy and carefully weighing in your words before pressing that submit button.
    • Shuffle Away: While a bit tricky, the sneaky Connections editor deliberately puts the first word placement as a misdirection. So the one golden tip here is to press that Shuffle button before you go on solving it.

If you’re still unsure how to proceed, check out our dedicated how-to-play NYT Connections guide for all the help you need.

We hope you had similar luck as I did for today’s game. If not, please let us know in the comments below!

How to play past Connections games?

Thankfully, it’s very easy to play old NYT Connections games. Simply head to the Connections archives and pick any date you wish to replay!

What is the hardest Connections category?

The Purple category is without a doubt the hardest NYT Connections category to solve. You have been warned!

Can I play NYT Connections for free?
