  • I Tweaked 10 Samsung Phone Settings — Now My Galaxy Feels Smarter and Faster

Samsung Galaxy phones are feature-rich — and with a lot of settings for us to tweak – no debate there. But if you’re sticking with the out-of-the-box setup, you’re missing out. I’ve used plenty of Galaxy models over the years, and every time, I make a series of quick changes that instantly make the phone feel more mine. Whether it’s a tweak for privacy, performance, or pure convenience, these 10 adjustments (plus one bonus) genuinely improve the user experience. Some are obvious; others, not so much.

Let’s dig in and you will see why these settings can transform your Samsung Galaxy.

    Source: Notebookcheck

    1. Kill the Pop-Ups

You’re mid-scroll, deep into an article or mid-text with a friend, and bam — a message notification hijacks your screen. It’s distracting and, frankly, unnecessary.

Turn them off. Head to Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style > Apps to show as brief, then toggle off All apps. You’ll still get alerts — just not the kind that pull focus like a toddler with a kazoo.

    2. Ditch the Buttons, Swipe Instead

Unless you manually changed it during setup, your phone likely uses the old-school three-button navigation. Functional? Sure. Efficient? Not really.

Switch to swipe gestures for a cleaner look and smoother feel. Go to Settings > Display > Navigation bar > Swipe gestures. Once you adjust, you’ll wonder why you didn’t switch sooner.

    3. Max Out the Display

Here’s a weird thing: the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with a jaw-droppingly good screen — sharp, vivid, less reflective — but it doesn’t use its highest resolution by default.

    samsung galaxy settings

To fix that, tap over to Settings > Display > Screen resolution and select the QHD+ option. Yes, it’ll use a bit more battery, but Samsung’s efficiency is no joke. I still get a full day’s charge, easy.

    4. Reassign the Side Key

Let’s be honest: no one’s asking for Bixby. And calling the power button a “side key” doesn’t make it less annoying when it opens something you didn’t mean to launch.

Here’s how to take control: Go to Settings > Advanced features > Side button > Press and hold, then select Power off menu. Simple, and now your phone works like it should.

    5. Fix Lock Screen Notifications

One UI 7 now shows tiny icons in the top corner of the lock screen by default. Not great if you prefer actual notification previews or want to hide sensitive content.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Lock screen notifications. Choose Cards for full previews, or enable Hide content if you want privacy.

    6. Sign In to Your Samsung Account

Look, I get it creating another account feels like a chore. But if you’re using a Galaxy phone, having a Samsung account unlocks a lot: cloud backups, Galaxy Themes, Samsung Wallet, and the Galaxy Store.

Even if you rely on Google services, it’s worth signing in to make phone upgrades and data transfers seamless.

    7. Download Good Lock

Good Lock is Samsung’s best-kept secret a customization app packed with tools that push your phone further. I use the One Hand Operation+ module to make swiping down from the screen’s edge bring up shortcuts or Quick Settings.

    samsung galaxy settings

Find it in the Galaxy Store, not the Play Store. And once you’ve got it, you’ll wonder how you lived without it.

    8. Ditch the Bloat

Your phone likely came with a bunch of pre-installed apps you don’t need. The good news? You can now remove most of them. No Samsung TV? Delete the app. Don’t use Microsoft CoPilot? Out it goes.

Start with the usual suspects: Facebook, Samsung Tutor, OneDrive, and whatever else you never open.

    9. Personalize the Home Screen

Widgets on Samsung phones are actually useful not just clutter. I use the Calendar widget because it blends into the wallpaper thanks to adjustable transparency. It looks good and doesn’t scream for attention.

Also, bump the icon grid to 5×5 to fit more apps without turning your screen into a mess. While you’re at it, try Wallpaper and style > Color palette to theme your icons based on your wallpaper. It’s subtle, but satisfying.

    10. Always-On Means Always On

By default, Samsung’s Always On Display only shows up when you tap the screen. Kind of misses the point, right?

Change that to actually always on: Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Always-on Display > Show always. I keep mine minimal no wallpaper, just time and date on a black screen to save battery.

Bonus: Bring Back the Old Notification Panel

One UI’s new notification panel borrows a little too much from iOS. Now, swiping down from the right pulls up Quick Settings, while the left brings down notifications. If that split-screen setup bugs you, here’s how to roll it back:

    samsung galaxy settings

Swipe down > Tap the Pencil icon > Panel settings > Select Together. Boom classic layout restored.

Samsung’s Galaxy lineup is some of the most capable hardware on the market. But capability only matters when it’s tuned to you. These settings don’t just make your Samsung Galaxy look better they make it work better, faster, and smarter. Take 10 minutes to apply them, and your Gal

  • Capcom may have underestimated how tricky of a character Elena is for her Street Fighter 6 release

Past quotes about the character from her Ultra Street Fighter 4 release shine light on how difficult she is to implement

For those of you who lived through Elena’s Ultra Street Fighter 4 release back in 2014, you know Elena’s Healing as one of the most infamous moves in the entire franchise.

It allowed Elena to take damage and fill up her Ultra meter, which in turn could be used to do Healing and replenish her life. Tying Elena’s Healing to her Ultra is often cited as one of the worst decisions the developers made during Street Fighter 4’s lifespan.

The fighting game community largely expected Elena to come out in Street Fighter 6 before her official June 5, 2025 release date, because of how many things are tied into her being added to the game, namely the Capcom Pro Tour which has a $2 million dollar prize pool.

Also, major balance changes for Season 3 and potentially new costumes may come packaged with Elena, but no official word has been given at this time about these things.

“Even if you have a solid gameplan with [Elena’s] Healing, it’s still extremely difficult and extremely situational to use,” — former Capcom developer right after Ultra Street Fighter 4’s console release.

However, Elena is a character with a history of majorly upsetting the balance of Street Fighter games, and this is largely tied to her Healing mechanic, which Capcom heavily underestimated previously, despite being warned about it by the playerbase.

During Elena’s introduction video for Ultra Street Fighter 4, a former Capcom developer noted that her Ultra 1 (Brave Dance) was the one to select over Ultra 2 (Healing), but this did not pan out in terms of how the character was consistently played in high stakes tournament matches.

“The primary Ultra of choice for Elena should be Brave Dance, and that’s because it gives you damage. If you’re using Healing, there are very few scenarios where you can use Healing safely without the opponent catching you,” a former Capcom developer said immediately after the character’s console release in Ultra Street Fighter 4.

“Even if you have a solid gameplan with Healing, it’s still extremely difficult and extremely situational to use,” the former Capcom developer added.

These words clearly did not hold up long term, as numerous pro players played the character and used her Healing move relentlessly to win matches.

Capcom has already stated that they’re aware of Elena’s Healing mechanic and that the playerbase shouldn’t be worried about it in Street Fighter 6, but given their past statements and how difficult Elena is to balance, I wonder if their team heavily underestimated how difficult the capoeira fighter is to add to the game.

Considering we’re only getting four characters per season in Street Fighter 6, it’s very important that each fighter makes a significant impact on the roster and the game itself.

Releasing a heavily watered down Elena that no one cares about or plays wouldn’t be in Capcom’s best interests, as they need the sales and hype that surrounds these characters to maintain momentum.

From past statements and how she’s ended up being way too strong in the past, Elena is one of the most difficult characters to balance that they could have been added to the game, and she’s not even particularly high up in various polls that have been ran asking players which fighters they’d most like to see.

Because of her Healing mechanic and generally annoying personality, Elena is not well regarded by the playerbase, nor in the actual story of the game itself, as most of the cast find her annoying and creepy.

While she was being added to Ultra Street Fighter 4, the developers specifically called Elena a “tricky” character, and given how much she’s been delayed out of her expected window, and how haphazard her release date announcement has been, I wonder if they’ve heavily underestimated just how difficult of a character Elena is to add into Street Fighter 6.

  • How to Find the Easter Bunny Set Code in Dress to Impress

One thing I love about Dress to Impress is the fun quests to get new costumes or accessories. With the Easter update, DTI added a fun quest to get a unique code to redeem the Easter Bunny Set. Similar to the Flamethrower Quest, you must complete an emoji hunt to get it. If you are struggling to find it, keep reading as we explain how to find the Easter Bunny Set code in Dress to Impress.

Dress to Impress Easter Bunny Set Code Clue

To get the Easter Bunny Set in Dress to Impress, first, you will need an emoji set clue. You will find a code at the end of the scavenger hunt, but it will be different than typical Dress to Impress codes. After a runway round is over, go toward the leaderboard and take note of the emoji mentioned at the top. Check the image we have attached below to understand how the emoji combination will look.

Image Credit: Dress to Impress/Roblox (screenshot by Ishan Adhikary/Beebom)

After you note down the combination, you must find it scattered around the game. Just like the Flamethrower code in DTI, it will be in the dressing room, nail salon, or the post-round lobby. We have mentioned all the possible emoji locations and some clues to find them below. So, keep reading to know their whereabouts.

Where to Find the Numbers for the DTI Easter Bunny Set Code

Once you find the emojis from your combination, you can unveil your set. The emoji combination you find is your main Easter Bunny Set code in Dress to Impress. For example, if the combination is , with eggs being number 1, chocolates being number 2, and rainbow being number 3, the code will be 22311.

Unfortunately, there is no exact location for the DTI Easter Bunny Set code emojis. Below, we have compiled all the common locations where you must find the emojis in the game.

Once you complete compiling the emoji numbers, type the numbers in order in the code redeem option in Dress to Impress. To do that, simply click the ‘Codes’ button from the left menu in your game. And after you type the numbers, press the redeem button.

Got your Easter Bunny Set? What accessories are you pairing with this cute dress in DTI? Do tell us in the comments.

  • A lot of Mortal Kombat’s special moves were added after the developers had captured the actors

Limited resources were a big factor in the development of the original game

While it’s nice to know your exact destination when you set out on a journey, it’s not always easy to plan where you’re going to end up in advance, especially when it came to video game development 30 years ago.

Take the 1992 release of the Mortal Kombat for example, as series co-creator Ed Boon was asked if the original’s special moves were all fully planned out in advance, or if the team was just experimenting with things during the development process.

“There weren’t that many special moves that we actually captured,” said Boon, noting that Scorpion’s spear and Sonya’s leg grab were two attacks they had actually intended to capture during the filming session with the actors.

“A lot of [special moves] came long after we had video taped the actors,” Boon stated. “They were just using existing frames of animation, so we just put something in.

“Johnny Cage’s Shadow Kick was just his side kick, we just made a whole bunch of duplicates of it and it’s this really cool effect,” Boon mentioned.

“So a lot of these things were just constructed, Sonya’s Square Wave Punch, we never captured that, it was long after the fact,” noted Boon.

“A lot of it was very spontaneous, keep in mind, this is four guys in their 20s set loose, that’s why it’s so visceral, we grew up in the 80s watching action movies, Enter the Dragon, Star Wars, everything like that,” Boon said.

Next, Boon discusses the limited resources the development team on the original Mortal Kombat had to work with, citing low memory as a big hurdle to work around.

“Everything was on EPROM chips, and each one of those cost money, so every time we added memory that added cost to the game and lowered profits, so it was all a constant negotiation,” he said.

“That was so instilled in us, that when we came up with a new move, we were just counting our resources,” Boon stated.

“That was a big part of the development of [Mortal Kombat] was to make it fit in this box, you don’t have unlimited space for your ideas, so it was ideas that could fit in this box,” Boon noted.

“Scorpion’s Teleport move was using his jump punch move, there was no extra frames of animation for it,” Boon mentioned.

“There was quite a bit of reusing of frames and images, it was just a management of that thing,” he added.

“That was a big part of [Mortal Kombat], but that was always the case with arcade games back in the day, make something really cool that will fit in a box,” Boon concluded.

One of these moves, which we previously documented, was Kano’s helicopter knife special, which couldn’t be included because it was too many frames of animation.

  • Today’s Wordle Hints, Answer for #1401 on April 20, 2025

NYT Wordle is a satisfying and tricky test of vocabulary and logic that challenges players to guess a new five-letter word every day. However, things can get a little too challenging at times, and that probably explains why you’re here. So, if you don’t want to break your word-guessing streak or get too frustrated, take a look at today’s Wordle hints and answer for puzzle #1401 for April 20, 2025, down below!

    How to Play Wordle

Wordle is a word puzzle game by The New York Times. You are given six attempts to guess a five-letter word. The letters are highlighted in Yellow, Green, and Grey when you input a word. Yellow denotes that the letter appears in today’s Wordle answer, but it’s not at the right spot. Meanwhile, when a letter turns green, it means you have guessed the right letter in the right position. At last, a grey letter means the letter is not part of today’s answer.

While it may seem that winning at Wordle is easy, it is difficult to get that pesky five-letter word right. To help you out, here are some quick tips on how to play Wordle:

    • Open with a strong word – Using the right Wordle starting words rich with multiple vowels and consonants is important. While you can take a look at our dedicated guide, starting words like AISLE, SALTY, and DINER are my go-to choices.
    • Pay attention to colors – Keep track of the yellow, green, and grayed-out letters to eliminate incorrect positions and letters. To make every guess count, avoid accidentally repeating letters that have already been eliminated.
    • Isolate the vowels – There can be days when your usual starting words don’t help much. In that case, try to test the remaining vowels by using different words.
    • Repeating letters is good – Don’t be afraid of repeating letters as history is proof that there are chances the Wordle answer will have one or two letters that repeat themselves.
    • Use the Wordlebot – As described above, NYT’s Wordlebot is an intuitive bot that analyzes your responses and compares them against itself. Instilling some healthy competition can help you improve your own Wordle guessing and see what you could have done better.

Two out of three of my daily Wordle starting words came in handy today, as SALTY had an “A” and a “T” in green to offer. DINER wasn’t useful at all today, while POUCH gave away a green-tiled “P”, “C”, and “H”. That easily led me straight to PATCH and the Wordle today was solved, easy peasy!

The answers for today’s Strands were pretty straightforward. I started off with the first set of theme words – BOOK and TOYS. Once I spotted EASTER, solving the Spangram and the rest of theme words was an easy affair.

What is NYT Strands Spangram and How Does It Work?

Every NYT Strands puzzle consists of a unique word or phrase that’s called the Spangram. This word or set of words will run the length of two opposite sides of the grid. One thing to note here is that, a Spangram doesn’t necessarily have to originate or end at the edge of the grid.

In its essence, the Spangram is kind of like a bigger hint that sums up today’s Strands theme in just a word or two. Since it spans across two sides of the puzzle, solving it early helps you figure out the rest of the theme words and vice versa.

Tips and Tricks for Mastering NYT Strands Puzzles

Solving an NYT Strands puzzle successfully isn’t that hard in itself, but in some cases, the approach might not be as straightforward as it looks. So, here are simple tips and tricks that we suggest you follow to crack the theme words and Spangram for Strands puzzles:

    • Always start at the corners: No two puzzles are the same. But the chances of the Spangram extending to a diagonal form are quite low. So, the best strategy is to find and decrypt relevant words that are at the corners of the grid.
    • Don’t be ashamed to get hints: Sometimes, a theme word could be all you need to solve the entire puzzle. If that requires getting a hint using non-theme words, then that’s the first thing you should do. After all, the point is to have fun and figure this out, like all of us.
    • Think both literally and figuratively: Not all themes may land you in the same sense of thought. Some puzzles may welcome more clever answers that may convey something totally different from their actual meaning.
    • Aim for the Spangram: The Spangram is what splits the Strands board in half. So, figuring it out will help you cross out other potential approaches for a theme. Deciphering even half of the Spangram can get you close to the rest of the answers.

How to Play Connections: Tips & Tricks to Solve the Puzzle

Given the fact you’re here, chances are that you already know how to play NYT Connections. As you might be able to tell by now, Connections by The New York Times is a word association game where players sort out 16 random words into four categories by finding a common ‘connection.’ This can be anything from a common sound to a deeper meaning.

That said, if you’re still confused, here are the best tips on how to play NYT Connections:

    • Simplicity is key: Connections will often throw ambiguous words at you. While it’s easy to get caught up in the details, the answer almost always lies in the simplest connections possible. So, instead of dear and deer being connected through a hunter-prey dynamic, they most likely connect because of a similar sound.
    • Watch those guesses: A key thing to note is Connections only gives you four chances in 24 hours for a single puzzle. As such, we advise not being trigger happy and carefully weighing in your words before pressing that submit button.
    • Shuffle Away: While a bit tricky, the sneaky Connections editor deliberately puts the first word placement as a misdirection. So the one golden tip here is to press that Shuffle button before you go on solving it.

If you’re still unsure how to proceed, check out our dedicated how-to-play NYT Connections guide for all the help you need.

  • Tekken 8 to receive another patch on Tuesday to resolve movement bug with Eddy and Nina

Following the recent emergency patch for Tekken 8 the other day, the development team mentioned that they’ve discovered and have a fix for an odd movement bug that happens when Eddy and Nina face off.

“We have confirmed the following issue in Tekken 8: During matches between Eddy and Nina, Eddy may move in front of his opponent immediately after the start of the match,” the development team said on X.

The team stated that they were investigating the cause, and later on noted that a patch to address this matter would be available on Tuesday.

“Corrective actions are in progress and a patch to correct this bug (V2.00.03) is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, April 22,” the developers said.

Tekken 8’s director, Kohei ‘Nakatsu’ Ikeda, said that he was sorry that the most recently released Season 2 did not meet people’s expectations, noting that they take feedback and comments about the game very seriously.

He added that they will continue to make steady and meaningful improvements to do their utmost to regain their fan’s trust.

It’s clear that the team at Bandai Namco is very serious about updating the game in this window of time, and it’ll be interesting to see if any additional improvements are added to the game, beyond what’s documented above, on Tuesday when the latest patch is released.
