  • Wife Of Pastor Abducted For Two Years Cries Out, Seeks Cross River Governor Otu’s Assistance

The wife of Pastor Inyang Ayang Ntukoghe, who went missing while travelling with former Minister of Niger Delta, Usani Uguru Usani, has alleged that the former minister has refused to disclose what happened to her husband.

According to Julie Inyang Ayang, Usani has kept her husband’s travelling bag since his disappearance over two years ago.

“For over two years, I am in pain with my children. If he is dead, we should be told,” Julie lamented in an interview with SaharaReporters.

She claimed that Usani sent her a message to stop disturbing him and even threatened her husband’s relations who sought an explanation.

The grieving mother of two expressed frustration over the trauma she and her children had endured, with no information on her husband’s whereabouts.

“My children are suffering, and the one in school, every day I beg people for money for his school fees,” she said, appealing to Nigerians to help uncover her husband’s fate.

Narrating how her husband has gone missing for over two years without a trace, Julie said: “On February 3, 2023, my husband followed the former Minister of Niger Delta, Usani Uguru Usani, whom he described as his political leader, to his village. They were in the same vehicle traveling from Calabar to Nko, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, for the burial of Usani’s sister who died, according to what my husband told me when he was going.”

She noted that later that day, she tried to reach out to her husband on the phone but couldn’t. “I thought maybe the burial place didn’t have network coverage. So, on Saturday, the 4th, a friend of mine called me and asked if my husband had followed Pastor Usani Usani, saying his vehicle was attacked. So, all I could do was run to Usani’s house in Calabar, unfortunately, he was not there.

“I met the gatemen, and they told me that he wasn’t around, that he was at Nko, so I think they put a call across to him, and he called me. I asked him, ‘Where is my husband?’ He said, ‘Madam, don’t worry, it was me they were looking for, but they picked your husband.’ He said what happened was that some people came out from the bush on their way and shot at his car. I was told they were eight in number. I don’t know him (Usani), and I have never met him apart from my husband who always goes to him as his political leader.”

She noted that the former minister, apart from what he said on the telephone about being attacked, hasn’t till date told her or her husband’s family what happened and how it happened.

Julie explained that there was so much information that she didn’t know what to believe, and Usani also refused to tell them what happened.

According to her, “I was told that they were eight who were abducted, and only my husband alone didn’t come back. The rest of the people came back. Two of them came to my house, and I was assured that my husband would return. Usani, on his own part, up till today, hasn’t called me to tell me what happened to my husband. Each time I call him, he won’t take the call, and the funniest part of it is that my husband’s travelling bag is still with him.

“My husband’s people even invited him to come and explain what happened to their son, and up till today, he didn’t show up. Instead, he reportedly threatened one of the leaders who gave him the letter of invitation, and that was how my husband’s people didn’t get back to me – everybody was like they didn’t want trouble.

“All this while, I have not been well; I have been sick because I was so traumatised. I cannot sit down like this since. I don’t have anyone to help me. I want Usani to come out and tell the whole world what happened to my husband and why his traveling bag is still with him for more than two years. My children are suffering, and the one in school, every day, I beg people for money for his school fees. It’s not all about the money but the responsibilities my husband would have helped me with. I am just a civil servant in the state, and how much am I paid? Apart from that, how can I sit down and keep quiet for my husband to just go like that?

“Usani is in Abuja, and when he comes to Calabar, he cannot even look for me and explain what happened to my husband. Instead, he gave me a text that I should stop disturbing him so that I won’t erroneously say what he doesn’t know. That’s why I’m crying out.

“Nigerians, please help me uncover the whereabouts of my husband. For over two years, I am in pain with my children. If he is dead, we should be told. Governor Bassey Otu, as the Chief Security Officer of the State, should intervene, and let Pastor Usani come out and tell the whole world what happened to my husband. I have gone to the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), and the security agencies have not said anything. It’s a conspiracy of silence,” she declared.

In a letter to the State Director, Department of State Security Services, Cross River State Command, Calabar, dated May 16, 2023, Mrs. Julie stated that Pastor Usani’s refusal to return her husband’s handbag in his possession and other attitudes “have left me with the belief that something fishy is going on in the whole episode and a premonition of some grievous mishap upon my husband and father of our children.”

When contacted, Usani insisted on a face-to-face meeting before speaking, citing concerns over inaccurate reporting.

He said, “I would like you to see me face-to-face. It’s difficult for me to talk to you because several journalists have talked to me on the phone, and I gave them explanations, but at the end of the day, they reported other things. So, I can only talk to you if I see you face-to-face to be sure that what is said is recorded.”

  • Seyi Law explains why he can never support Peter Obi

Nigerian comedian Lawerrence Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has explained why he cannot support Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The humor merchant, who in a recent interview on the Teju Babyface show said that the former Anambra State governor can never have his forgiveness due to the abuse he suffered at the hands of Peter Obi’s supporters, ‘the obedients.’

Seyi Law alleged that Obidients insulted his wife and children because he supported President Bola Tinubu, while Peter Obi stood by and refused to bring them to order.

He maintained that Obidients breached personal lines by targeting his family, which is one thing he considers “unforgivable,” and that the former governor of Anambra is “unfit” for his support because of his “failure” to denounce the acts of his followers.

“The moment you cross that boundary from me to my children, mother, and wife, there is no forgiveness. That is why there is nothing on earth that Peter Obi can do that will make me support him,” Seyi Law declared.

“They attacked my children and my wife. As long as Peter Obi does not call them to order and he keeps denying that they are doing that, he will never get my support. Let Peter Obi wear the garment of Jesus Christ today; he will never get my support.

Hate or love me, my personal way of life is between me and God. Any organisation that does not support free thinking is a cult. I do not feel down at all because when you talk too much, I swear to you.

“One of the good things that God has done for me is that my anger does not last long. Personal anger for me does not last long. The only place it lasts long is when you leave me and attack my children, mother, and wife.”

He also said that he supported President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying that no politician could change Nigeria if Tinubu couldn’t.

Seyi Law stated he is steadfast in his position and believes Tinubu can lead, even in the face of criticism and dwindling support from some Nigerians.

He said, “Some Nigerians hate me for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They don’t even support my shows anymore. You might not support me today, but I will want to be 70 and 80, and I see my children enjoying the benefits of the sacrifices I have made today.

“I tell you wholeheartedly, not with any sentiment, if Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot redirect the ship of Nigeria, no politician currently can do it. None. Not Atiku, not Peter Obi. Not with what I know about all of them.”

  • Ex-Manchester United midfielder Joe Thompson dies aged 36

Former Manchester United academy prospect Joe Thompson has died aged 36, after a battle with cancer.

The retired midfielder was diagnosed with stage four lymphoma in April, the third time he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Thompson spent six years at Rochdale between 2006 and 2012, making 203 appearances for the club.

In a statement, Rochdale said: “We first knew Joe primarily as a talented footballer, but we would soon grow to adore his loving, infectious personality.

“He faced every battle head-on, both on and off the pitch. His journey and indomitable spirit have been an inspiration for everyone who has been touched by his story.”

Thompson started his career in the Manchester United academy in 1998, playing alongside players such as Tom Cleverley and Danny Drinkwater.

After seven years at Carrington, he moved on, joining Rochdale’s academy and making his debut for the first team in 2006.

Thompson left The Dale for Tranmere Rovers in 2012 but would return to the club on loan in 2013.

Stints at Bury, Wrexham, Southport and Carlisle United would follow, before the Englishman returned to Rochdale in 2016, spending three more years at Crown Oil Arena before announcing his retirement in 2019.

He would go on to work as a motivational speaker, as well as holding an ambassadorial role with Manchester United.

Despite battling against the effects of cancer, Thompson raised funds for various charities – in October, he walked for 21 miles from Old Trafford to Crown Oil Arena, to raise awareness of cancer treatments.

In a statement, Manchester United said: “Everyone who knew Joe thought he was a great man, whose personality lit up every room he entered despite the pain he had endured in his life.

“We’ll always remember him and send our deepest condolences to his wife, Chantelle, and two daughters.”

  • How do we learn something new? Study reveals how our brain learns

How does the brain encode new information, like job tasks or song lyrics? Scientists at the University of California, San Diego, have uncovered groundbreaking insights into how learning reorganizes the brain. Their study reveals that neurons follow multiple rules to adapt during learning, offering insights with potential applications in medicine and artificial intelligence.

Learning triggers changes across trillions of synapses, where neurons communicate with each other. This process, known as synaptic plasticity, enables the strengthening and weakening of specific synapses.

Previously, scientists believed that synaptic changes followed a single set of rules; however, the new study reveals that neurons apply different rules across various regions.

Using two-photon imaging to observe individual synapses in mice, researchers discovered that neurons perform distinct computations in parallel. The new images show that neurons follow multiple rules during learning, challenging the earlier belief that they operate under a single set of rules. This challenges traditional views and sheds light on the “credit assignment problem,” where synapses work locally but collectively shape new behaviors, much like ants in a colony.

The findings could advance treatments for disorders like addiction, PTSD, Alzheimer’s, and autism by improving understanding of brain function and dysfunction. In AI, these insights may inspire more sophisticated neural networks by mimicking the brain’s ability to apply multiple rules simultaneously.

“This work is laying a foundation to understand both normal brain function better and what goes wrong in diseases,” said Dr. William “Jake” Wright, the study’s first author.

The research opens new paths for studying how neurons benefit from applying diverse learning rules and what this means for brain health and beyond.

  • Kaduna Governor Calls For Unity, Prayers As Christians Mark Easter

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has congratulated Christians in the state and across the country on Easter, urging them to use the celebration to pray for his administration and that of President Bola Tinubu.

The governor made the call in a statement released on his verified Facebook handle on Saturday to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a symbol of sacrifice, renewal, hope, and joy.

According to Governor Sani, “This season calls us to embrace the core Christian values of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. As we draw inspiration from these ideals, let us work hand in hand to build a more harmonious, peaceful, and inclusive society.”

He emphasised that his administration remains committed to service above self, ensuring that every policy, project, and programme is designed with the welfare of citizens as the primary objective.

The governor’s commitment to the people of Kaduna State is evident in his administration’s efforts to drive transformation in rural areas, upgrade urban infrastructure, strengthen security, revitalise the economy, and invest in human capital.

“Our youth and women empowerment initiatives are designed to lift everyone, regardless of ethnicity or creed, because our vision is clear about a Kaduna State where all communities live and thrive together in harmony,” he said.

Governor Sani’s administration has been working tirelessly to ensure that every community in the state gets its share of infrastructure upgrades, health clinics, schools, and economic opportunities.

“From the highlands of Zangon Kataf to the plains of Birnin Gwari, from Kaduna metropolis to the boundaries of Jema’a, our commitment is unwavering,” he stated.

The governor also urged citizens to join hands in acts of charity, sharing meals, offering counsel, and extending helping hands to the less fortunate, vulnerable, and displaced.

“In the true spirit of Easter, which is associated with compassion and generosity, let us not forget those who are less fortunate,” he said.

As Christians celebrate Easter, Governor Sani called on them to pray for his administration and that of President Tinubu, noting that the president needs the prayers, understanding, and support of citizens as he navigates economic, social, and political challenges on the path to national renewal.

  • 6 players in Marvel vs. Capcom on-screen at once may sound crazy, but there’s precedent for this mode being included in the future

The Marvel vs. Capcom franchise is well known for its wild and crazy gameplay, but some people were surprised to hear that the developers once considered letting 6 players compete at once in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but decided against it because of networking concerns.

The thing is, there’s actually some precedent for Capcom including such a mode that has everyone on-screen at one time, as they’ve done so previously in some of their major fighting games, and netcode has vastly improved since the February 2011 release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

In terms of Capcom fighting games, the first place many people saw this feature was in 1995 with Street Fighter Alpha, where two players controlling Ryu and Ken could take on M. Bison, which was a call back to the animated movie that had come out the prior year.

This feature would once again return in Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, and Street Fighter Alpha 3, but in all of these instances, this mode involved a CPU controlled opponent battling against two human players.

However, in 2012, Street Fighter X Tekken had a Scramble Mode included in the game, which let 4 people play at one time. Fast forward more than a decade later, and you’d assume that with technology and netcode advances, Capcom’s ability to do a 6 fighter on-screen battle at once would be possible — but potentially need some additional system mechanics to make it all work.

There are concerns, especially with the over the top gameplay in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, that such a mode may make it extremely difficult to keep up with the action, and the gameplay screen might need to be zoomed out, and how the camera follows the characters may also need to change a bit.

Also, it might be possible to lock down the opposition with a flurry of offensive moves, so it’s possible a new defensive mechanic that allows players to evade pressure may also be in order, outside of pushblocking.

It’s also possible this mode would only allow two people to control the on-screen action at one time, so the other players would have to wait their turns or be tagged in. This would be less of a Scramble/Dramatic Battle at that point, and would play much more like a traditional Marvel vs. Capcom title, but with some added flair.

The bottom line is that the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise is well known for its unorthodox and crazy gameplay, so a feature like this making its debut in the next Marvel game could be a reality.

After all, it’s not uncommon for Capcom to revisit previously cut features or characters and add them into the next game.

While a new Marvel vs. Capcom game hasn’t been announced yet, the recent sales boost may mean it’s only a matter of time before we hear about the next entry in this outstanding series.
