Fortnite and Marvel are teaming up once again, this time with the upcoming Thunderbolts set. Epic Games has revealed new comic-inspired skins, including White Widow and the Winter Soldier, along with themed wraps, back blings, emotes, and pickaxes to complete the look. Players have a chance to snag some of these cosmetics early—and for free—before they hit the Item Shop next week. This guide covers everything you need to know about the Fortnite Thunderbolts Cup and how to unlock the White Widow skin before April 30.

The Thunderbolts Cup, recently announced by Epic, gives players the chance to earn the exclusive Pen & Ink style of White Widow in Fortnite, inspired by Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts film. • Still Waiting: These 45 Xiaomi Devices Haven’t Gotten HyperOS 2.1 Yet

While Xiaomi made headlines by rolling out its major HyperOS 2.0 update to 116 devices in just six months, the follow-up—HyperOS 2.1—isn’t moving nearly as fast. And that’s left a long list of users tapping their fingers, waiting for their devices to catch up. If you own a recent Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone, your model might still be stuck on 2.0.

    What’s the Hold-Up?

HyperOS 2.1 is slowly making its way through Xiaomi’s ecosystem, bringing subtle but meaningful upgrades. Still, the pace is noticeably more sluggish than the original launch. That means a range of flagship, mid-range, and even tablet and foldable devices are sitting idle—software-wise—while others move ahead.

The Full List: 45 Devices Without the Update (Yet)

These are the devices that received HyperOS 2.0 but haven’t yet been graced with version 2.1:

     Flagships Still in Line

     Mid-Range Models Holding Out

    • Redmi 12, 12 5G, 13, 13C, 13C 5G, 13 5G, 13R
    • Redmi 14R 5G
    • Redmi Note 12 4G, 12 NFC 4G, 12 Turbo, 12S, 12T Pro, 12R
    • Redmi Note 13 Pro, 13 Pro 4G, 13R, 13R Pro, 13 5G, 13 4G NFC, 13 Pro+
    • Redmi Note 14, 14 Pro, 14 Pro+, 14 4G
    • POCO X6 5G, X6 Neo, X7
    • POCO M6, M6 Plus 5G, M6 Pro, M6 Pro 4G
    • POCO C65

     Tablets & Foldables on Hold

    • Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, Pad 6 Max 14
    • POCO Pad
    • Redmi Pad Pro, Pad Pro 5G
    • Redmi Pad SE, SE 4G, SE 8.7 Wi-Fi
    • Xiaomi MIX FOLD 2

That’s a hefty roster—about 45 in total—that remains in limbo. And while Xiaomi hasn’t shared a precise rollout timeline for these models, history suggests it could be weeks—or months—before they all receive the upgrade.

    Xiaomi HyperOS Update

    Why HyperOS 2.1 Matters

At a glance, HyperOS 2.1 might not look like a major overhaul. But it brings refinements that matter for everyday use. We’re talking about smoother transitions, UI tweaks, and little touches that make the system feel more alive.

    Some standout upgrades include:

    • Sleek, polished animations that make navigation feel faster and more fluid
    • New lock screen effects for a deeper level of customization
    • Animated flashlight activation—a minor change, but a surprisingly delightful one
    • System-wide UI enhancements that polish the overall experience

Basically, it builds on the solid base of 2.0, smoothing out rough edges and improving visual flow. If HyperOS 2.0 was the foundation, 2.1 is the finesse.

    HyperOS 2

The Bigger Picture: Xiaomi’s Update Strategy

The company deserves credit where it’s due. Rolling out HyperOS 2.0 to over a hundred devices across eight global regions in half a year is no small feat. It’s a sign of Xiaomi’s commitment to long-term software support—even across lower and mid-range models, something rivals often overlook.

But it’s not all sunshine. Some models, like the Xiaomi Mi 11 series, POCO F4, and parts of the Redmi Note 12 family, won’t be moving beyond 2.0. These devices have reached the end of their official update lifecycle. And while they’ll continue functioning just fine, don’t expect any more major features coming their way.

  • Harvard Sues Trump Over $2.2bn Funding Cuts

Harvard University has filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s administration over what it describes as politically motivated attempts to control its internal policies in exchange for continued access to federal funding.

The lawsuit, filed on Monday, was in response to the administration’s demand for access to all internal reports on antisemitism (anti-jewish) and anti-Muslim bias at Harvard since October 2023, along with new oversight requirements, according to CNN.

The university’s president, Alan M. Garber, in a message to the Harvard community, called the government’s actions “a direct threat to academic freedom and the independence of American institutions of higher learning.”

He said the demands have real consequences for students, researchers, and the global reputation of U.S. higher education.

The Trump administration has frozen more than $2.2bn in research grants and federal contracts, and is threatening to revoke an additional $1bn in health-related funding unless Harvard agrees to a series of demands.

These demands include eliminating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programmes, banning masks at campus protests, implementing merit-based hiring and admissions, and allowing federal oversight of hiring, admissions, and ideological climate on campus.

A letter from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights, ordered Harvard to hand over all internal bias-related reports and the names of contributors to these documents for federal interviews, according to The Free Press.

However, Harvard has refused the demands, arguing that the administration’s actions overstep legal boundaries and exceed its lawful authority.

“This has nothing to do with fighting antisemitism,” Harvard’s lawsuit claims, arguing that the funding freeze unfairly targets critical scientific and medical research.

Garber, who is Jewish, said Harvard admitted valid concerns about antisemitism and Islamophobia but said these concerns are actively being addressed through established campus task forces, insisting that the university will not compromise its constitutional rights.

The administration’s actions follow the public release of a letter on April 11 from the White House’s Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, which demanded Harvard to submit to extensive federal oversight.

Harvard’s public rejection of the letter’s terms reportedly escalated the conflict.

Other elite institutions including Princeton, Cornell, and Northwestern have faced similar threats and halts in federal funding as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to reshape higher education policies.

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service is also reportedly considering revoking Harvard’s tax-exempt status, while the administration has threatened to bar the university from enrolling foreign students, including Israeli veterans currently studying at the school.

Meanwhile, Jewish organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League and Harvard Hillel, have voiced concerns that the administration’s response is more about political posturing than genuine concern for Jewish students.

Over 100 Jewish Harvard students signed an open letter condemning the funding cuts, saying they feel like “pawns in a broader political agenda.”

  • Keir Starmer welcomes ‘much-needed clarity’ after Supreme Court gender ruling

Keir Starmer has welcomed the landmark ruling that biological sex should determine whether people can use same-sex spaces.

In his first comments since the verdict, the prime minister said he was “really pleased” that the Supreme Court announcement has given “much-needed clarity” on gender issues.

The UK’s highest court, delivering its judgement last Wednesday, ruled that the terms “woman” and “sex” in the 2010 Equality Act “refer to a biological woman and biological sex”.

On a visit to a school in south-west England, Starmer told the BBC: “I welcome the decision of the Supreme Court, which has given us clarity, much-needed clarity, and I think for those that are now drawing up guidance, it’s a much clearer position.

“So I’m really pleased that the court has now clarified the position. We can move on from there and I think that’s been very helpful, and I would welcome that.”

Asked further whether this means he does not believe a trans woman is in fact a woman, the PM said: “A woman is an adult female, and the court has made that absolutely clear.”

Starmer also suggested guidance needs to be shared to public bodies to ensure all organisations following the ruling.

“We need to move and make sure that we now ensure that all guidance is in the right place according to that judgment”, he told ITV West Country.

Bridget Phillipson, the equalities minister and education secretary, is expected to give a House of Commons statement on the Supreme Court’s ruling as parliament returns from Easter recess on Tuesday.

The prime minister had faced criticised for not commenting or issuing a statement on the court’s ruling since it was unveiled on Wednesday.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Conservative spokesperson Chris Philp said the prime minister should apologise “to the country” and to a former Labour MP for his previous comments on gender identity.

Philp, the shadow home secretary, told Sky News: “Keir Starmer has been all over the place on this. He claimed a year or two ago, that women could have penises, which is ridiculous.

“He even drove Rosie Duffield out of the Labour Party for taking a common sense view of this issue, which has now been vindicated by the Supreme Court judgement.

“So Keir Starmer should apologise to the country for what he said a few years ago. He should particularly apologise to Rosie Duffield for driving her out of the Labour Party on this issue. So I completely welcome the Supreme Court judgement.”

Philp added: “Keir Starmer has been totally silent on this issue, for the last 6 or 7 days since that ruling came out.”

  • Paschal Greeting from Metropolitan Tikhon of Crimea

    Dear brothers and sisters!

The first words of the Risen Savior, directed to the people, was a greeting, a call, and a direction for life: “Rejoice!”

Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks for everything—the apostle Paul confirms these words, which he came to know through his own long and personal experience in life (1 Thess. 5:16–18). Having experienced persecution, serious illnesses, loss of friends, betrayal by disciples, and finally martyrdom, the apostle nevertheless unwaveringly proclaims the main thing that he learned in life: Only completely and totally entrusting yourself to the Lord Jesus Christ will bring victory, and what is incomparably better than anything earthly—spiritual joy.

The Lord lives, and holds the fate of the world in His hands! His Holy Church lives, enlightening and strengthening the believing and faithful with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Rejoice! And no one can take this joy away from us. It is about something infinitely more! It is about Christ’s victory over all evil in this world and over death itself. It is the threshold to eternal life, and it is given for strength and victory to us, the weak and sinful children of the Heavenly Father, to Whom every child He has sent to earth is precious.

    Rejoice! Christ is Risen!

Bar hopeful in bind over career decision

In our latest Career Conundrum, a prospective barrister has secured pupillage — but they’re doubting whether it’s the right chambers for them. Do they take it anyway, or reapply?

“Hi Legal Cheek, it’s my second year applying for commercial/chancery pupillage post-Bar Course. Last year, I didn’t get any interviews, but this year I’ve been lucky enough to secure multiple interviews and have received one offer. Problem is, in hindsight, I think I applied to this set to boost my chances/application numbers, it’s in a city I don’t want to live in, and I’m having doubts about whether it’s the right fit. Should I be open-minded, accept the offer, and, worse comes to worst, jump ship after completing pupillage? Or should I turn it down and reapply next year in the hopes of securing a better offer?”
