  • Will Marriage Slow Okagbare Down?

                                Written by Samuel Ekun;

    Coaches Express Mixed Feelings
Sports coaches in Nigeria have expressed mixed feelings on Blessing Okagbare’s ability or otherwise to maintain her winning streak on the national, continental and global tracks, after getting married to Igho Otegheri on November 8.
Some of the coaches said Blessing should be encouraged to do better while others felt married life would affect her performance.
A Basketball Coach, Thomas Wallace, said the most important thing was for the athlete to remain focused and not to be bothered about her marital status.
“The most important thing for her is to remain focused and to have the right coach who can develop programmes and divide it into different phases for her.
“It is a team effort, not just for the athlete, but for the coach, for her husband and for the family to be able to work together for a common goal.
“ It is not something difficult, but it must be a team effort; it will take a lot of efforts on her side now that she is married and possibly going to have a child,’’ Wallace said.
He, however, said that there should be developmental programmes to nurture upcoming athletes, instead of depending on the successful ones alone.
A Handball Coach, David Emmanuel, said that although Nigeria was not a conducive environment for married athletes to perform better than they had been doing, he was convinced that Okagbare would perform better.
“Based on my experience, I believe she can do it and I believe she will even perform better now.
“She will still be able to perform if we handle things the way they are done across the world.
“But due to the nature of the society we are in this country, we have the problem of whenever a lady is married, she has become somebody’s property, nobody wants to help her or look at her direction.
“I was at the Handball African Cup of Nations sometime in January and the lady that was the Most Valuable Player at the tournament was nursing a baby at that time.
“But we have a problem here in Nigeria that we neglect married women,’’ Emmanuel said.
A Football Coach, Ifeanyi Sammy, said that married life would affect Okagbare psychologically and emotionally.

  • Amun Welcomes Amokachi Eagles Duties

-Urges ‘Da Bull’ To Resurrect Career
Former national team coach, Fanny Iyakhere Amun has described as a welcome development that chances given Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel ‘Da Bull’ Amokachi to handle the squad for a couple of international friendlies at the start of next year.
While making his views known on the report that emanated from Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the acclaimed ‘Transformer of Talents’ said the opportunity has arrived for Amokachi to revive his coaching career.
Amokachi’s coaching duties nosedived after he failed to qualify the home-based national team for the first Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in a qualifier against lowly Niger Republic, but he will now lead the Eagles in international friendlies against Mali and Cote d’Ivoire to once again prove his coaching competence.
Amun, who guided the Golden Eaglets to victory at Japan ’93 FIFA World Cup, stated that God will give the present NFF board the wisdom to settle the issues still lingering with Stephen Keshi, but said seeing Amokachi take charge is also a move in the right direction.
“Amokachi is a respected personality in the team as well having played diligently during his days and been around the team for a while as an assistant coach.
“Weeding off completely the makeup of the technical crew of the national team is not always needed. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a golden opportunity for him to prove himself as the leader of the team and I wish him all the best,” said the former NFF general-secretary.

  • Keshi’s Most Googled Sports Person

    -IK Uche Second, Uzoenyi Third
Another angle has been added to the aura and followership generated by Super Eagles incumbent head coach,  Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, as latest statistics have revealed that he is the Nigerian sports star with the largest hits on globally renowned internet search website, Google.
While Keshi is listed number one among Nigerian sports stars that are followed across the world on Google, the player with whom the coach had a long falling out for the better part of the outgoing year, Villarreal of Spain striker, Ikechukwu Uche is rated number two.
Third place on the Google followership for Nigeriuan sports stars is Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa winger, Chrisantus Ejike Uzoenyi, whose exploits in 2014 included a most valuable player award at the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in the same country he now plies his trade, as well as a last minute inclusion in the Nigerian World Cup squad due to an injury copped by Elderson Uwa Echiejile.
However, the biggest spotlight is on the gaffer that is most times called ‘Big Boss,’ whose name flooded all major tabloids in the country in the year, though many critics have since been calling for his removal, since his failure to qualify the Eagles to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
That clamour, though, has boosted the internet buzz for Keshi, who has shown how contentious he is in the country by topping the list of most searched sports people for the year ending, according to “Google.’’
Since he first resigned following his historic capture of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa, Keshi has become a spiky issue and a renowned name in Nigeria.
At once he is the best thing to have happened to Nigerian football since Clemens Westerhof, at other times he becomes the most criticized man on the continent.
However, inability to manage properly the team’s strength due to his limited technical know-how (cue the fact that Keshi made the least number of substitutions among all the coaches) and his controversial choice of players to the World Cup among many others, hampered the success of the side as it failed to once again shatter the Round of 16 glass ceiling in Brasilia.
The full list of Google’s 2014 most searched Nigerian sports personalities has: 1. Stephen Keshi, 2. Ikechukwu Uche, 3. Ejike Uzoenyi, 4. Musa Yahaya, 5. Umar Zango, 6. Vincent Enyeama, 7. Blessing Okagbare, 8. Daniel Amokachi, 9. Rabiu Ali, 10. Sone Aluko.http://negroidhaven.blogspot.com/search/label/Sports?&max-results=

  • Fasting: The Best Cure For Ailments

             Fasting is a deliberate
and controlled abstinence from solid foods for a certain period. Its is a safe
and effective method for the body to detoxify itself i.e remove harmful waste. Fasting
is recommended for every illness, as it gives the body the needed rest.
By fasting regularly, you give all of
your organ a rest, help reverse the aging process and live a longer, healthier,
and happy life. Illness such as: Addictions, allergies, respiratory diseases
acute illness, colon disorders are usually responsive to fasting.
      Benefits of Fasting
         The natural
process of toxin excretion continues, while the influx of new toxins is
reduced. This results in a reduction of body toxicity.
    1)
The immune system workload is greatly reduced,
and the digestive tract is spared by any inflammation due to allergic reactions
    to food.
    2)
Due to a lowering of serum fats that thins the
blood tissue oxygenation is increased and while blood cells are moved more
    efficiently.
    3)
The energy usually used for digestion is redirected
to immune function, cell growth and eliminatory processes
    4)
Physical awareness and sensitivity to surrounding
    increased.

      Due to these effects
of fasting, a fast can help you heal with greater speed; cleanse your liver,
kidneys and colon, purify your blood, help you loose excess weight and water,
flush out toxins, clear the eye and tongue and cleanse the breath. It is
recommended that you fast at least 3 days a month. And follow a 10days fast at
least twice a year.  Depending on the
length of the fast, it accomplishes different things. A 3 days fast helps the
body rid itself of toxins and cleanses the blood. A five day fast begins the
process of healing and rebuilding the immune system. A ten day fast can take
care of many problems before they arise and help to fight off illness,
including the degenerative diseases that have become so common in our
    chemically polluted environment.

    WHAT IF I…
WHAT IF I DECIDE TO FORGET ALL
THE THINGS I HAVE EVER SAID , TO ALL THOSE WHO EVER MATTERED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE,
INCLUDING FRIENDS AND FAMILY, LOVED ONES WHO I EVER LOVED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE…
WHAT IF I DENY EVERY PROMISE I
EVER MADE TO WHOMSOEVER I EVER SAID THEM. WHAT IF I DECIDE TO TURN DOWN EVERY
PROPOSALS OF LOVE  I EVER MADE TO THAT
ONE SPECIAL SOUL I EVER SAID “ I LOVE YOU, AND WOULD LIKE TO SPEND MY LIFE WITH
    YOU!….
WHAT IF I DECIDE TO BREAKS EVERY
COVENANT I EVER MADE WITH WHOMEVER AND FOR WHATSOEVER PURPOSE WHAT IF I DENY
THOSE DAYS OF MY ENTIRE RIGHTEOUS LIFE ;CHOOSING RATHER NOT TO BOW TO ANY IMMORTAL
    SOUL, SPIRIT OR BEING ….
WHAT IF I DENY THE EXISTENCE OF
EVERYTHING IN AND OUTSIDE MY ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING THE FACT THAT I EXIST. WHAT
IF I DECIDE TO DO NOTHING ELSE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE BUT TO CONCENTRATE ON JUST ON
THING WHICH IS IN DENYING EVERY OTHER THING THAT MATTERS TO MY BODY, SPIRIT AND
SOUL…. INCLUDING THE FACT THAT ALL THESE THINGS DID EVER EXIST AT ALL….
WHAT IF I SUCCESSSFULLY DENY ALL
THE THINGS THAT EVER MATTERED TO ME AS THEY HAD PRIOR TO THIS TIME (OF MY DENYING
THEM) MADE ME WHOSOEVER I HAVE BECOME WITHIN THE IMAGE OF MY SELF AS BEING
EXPRESSED IN MY SELF …. WHAT THEN WOULD I BECOME?
WOULD I THEN BE LIKE DECARTES WHO LAID HIS
FOUNDATION ON THE “COGITO” ALSO ASCERTAIN MY OWN “COGITO” SEEING THAT I HAD
DOUBTED AND DENIED EVERYTHING INCLUDING MYSELF, MY THOUGHTS AND THE FACT THAT I
AM DOUBTING AND DO POSSESS THESE THINGS WHICH I CAN BY NO MEANS DO AWAY!
WOULD I LIKE OSAM OSAM EDIM
STILL ASCERTAIN THE REALITY OF THE ABSOLUTE “ZERO” WHO I HAD DOUBTED HIS
    EXISTENCE?!
    WOULD I LIKE J. P. SARTRE….
AFTER DENYING ALL THESE THINGS INCLUDING THE REALITY OF THE ABSOLUTE, COME BACK
TO A COMMON DENOMINATOR I WHICH IS THE FACT THAT MAN IS BUT IN A CONSTANT
THRIVE TO NEGATE HIS NEGATION WHICH AMOUNTS TO NOTHINESS AND THAT HE IS AT THE
CENTRE OR FOCUS OF THE UNIVERESE?
IF AFTER DOING ALL THESE THINGS
…. I AM STILL ABLE TO RETAIN THE REALITY OF ANYTHING ON WHICH MY ENTIRE DENIAL
HAD FOCUSED OR IS DETERMINED TO FOCUS… I WOULD AT THAT JUNCTURE CALL THAT
THING…. WHATEVER IT WOULD BE….. I WOULD THUS CALL IT “THE VOID : WHICH STANDS
    BETWEEN THIS … AND THAT……

  • My Day Of Learning by Osuala Amaobi Nelson.

Life is so brief that the slightest
remembrance of this, Opens to us nothing but that curious enquiry into the
essence of life which we would search to discover but all to no avail.
A look into the mirror reveals your
image which if a critical search is done as to how `this self `is represented
in the self where it is reflected and from which it emanates would  thus reveal to us nothing but nothingness and
    its futility.
Another look at the image represented
in one of your early day pictures…. Supplies nothing but the memories of your
yesterday… But still within the self there is a longing to grasp beyond the
memories. How you see yourself  now as
being the complete opposite of whom and what you were in the past.
Life is indeed futile as our search
all amounts to nothingness..A further inquiry into my yesterday leaves me with
a deep sense of sorrows and regret that if only I could see my today from
yesterday..then the errors I have made would never have emerged at all
because  already I had known that I would
live up to see today from yesterday.
Taking a more critical look at what
I have just asserted in the foregoing. It could be seen that if I was to see my
today from yesterday, I would as well have become as the gods and also the
immortal souls who live their today as though their tomorrow is already
    guaranteed.
This thus leads to a critical
questioning: is there actually anything like a future? It seems as though
everyday or each day is a tomorrow of yesterday.
If this be the case, I make bold to
say that the notion of a “future” or a “tomorrow”  is unrealistic as the only tomorrow there is
and which we have is but today or now.
So would I be right to counsel that
“we should  live our lives as though there
were no tomorrow” or that we should live our lives in the memory of today as
tomorrow is the today of yesterday and yesterdays’ tomorrow is the today which
    we now have.
In all this, I wish to conclude
that there is no tomorrow as every tomorrow emerges, whenever today appears and
yesterday is only what we have and should lay hands on as tomorrow. I rest my
    argument.
