  • ENTERTAINMENT: See what cancer did to this former body builder

    By William Oyo-Ita 30 March 2015

A former bodybuilder given just weeks to live after being diagnosed with cancer today blamed his 10,000-calorie a day diet and energy drink addiction for triggering the disease.

Dean Wharmby was told he had just weeks to live in November after a large tumour was found on his liver. But he is still battling the disease five-and-a-half months later, thanks, he believes, to cutting out sugar and relying on natural remedies.

It is a huge turn-around for the 39-year-old, who told MailOnline he turned to a diet of burgers, pizzas and bacon sandwiches – washed down with seven to eight cans of energy drink – to create the 'perfect' bodybuilder's physique.

But he now believes the high-protein, fatty diet he lived on for four to five years may have led to his illness, first diagnosed in 2010.

'It was because I was trying to be as big as possible,' Mr Wharmby told MailOnline.
'I can't say it was the diet for sure, but things like the energy drinks could be contributing factors. Red meats – all things we have found out have so many impurities in them now.
'I think it was a combination of it all.'

Mr Wharmby had been a  bodybuilder for 20 years before he became ill.
In the beginning, he admits to taking steroids for about a year to create his physique because 'everybody did it'.
But he soon turned his back on them, as he began to build his personal training business.
It was then his diet took a turn for the worse.
'I could train seven clients in a day, back-to-back,' he said. 'Then I would have to have the energy to train myself.'
He added: 'I was constantly on the go.'

He was offered chemotherapy and a liver transplant, but he decided to turn both down in favour of natural remedies.
'I refused it from day one,' he said. 'The main reason why I chose to do natural instead of artificial was because I wanted to live. I didn't want to die.'
But that meant he needed to completely rethink his diet, which was full of things like acids – which he believes help cancers thrive.

And for a year, it was successful: Mr Wharmby's tumour disappeared.
'But I got complacent,' he admitted. 'The old lifestyle crept in again.'
In 2013, he collapsed outside the gym where he was working as a trainer, and rushed to hospital.

For the majority of the next year, he returned to his healthy regime.
But then things started to go wrong: he broke up with his girlfriend briefly, and found himself homeless – making it hard to concentrate on getting better.
By November, he was in hospital 'hooked up to every machine you could think of'.
Doctors said he had just three weeks to live. The tumour had got too big to operate, and there was little the doctors felt they could do.
'I was offered chemotherapy, but doctors basically said there was no point,' Mr Wharmby said.

So he and girlfriend Charlotte Rigby – his 'rock' – began his healthy regime once more.
They also began fundraising to help pay for the treatment costs and have attracted more than 2,000 likes on Facebook by regularly posting videos of his progress.
He has also visited a doctor in London – and is hoping to shrink his tumour by using natural medicine.

Mr Wharmby is also hoping to inspire others through social media to live more healthily.

Ms Rigby, 27, said: 'There are lots of examples out there of people beating cancer naturally, even when they've been told there's nothing conventional medicine can do for them.
'The support Dean has received has really lifted him. People have been so positive and it has really made a difference to his attitude.
'Now he's determined to inspire others to live more healthily.'
Mr Wharmby added: 'It has been very difficult but I'm 100 per cent determined to beat this.
'And five-and-a-half months later, I'm doing something right.'

  • NEWS: Wife stabs husband to death over APC,PDP presidential candidates in Lagos

    By William Oyo-ita 30 March 2015

A 26 year old pregnant wife simply identified as Onyiyechi has been arrested by the Lagos state police command for stabbing her husband to death following an argument over the presidential candidates in Saturday's general election at their home in Ejigbo on Sunday March 29th.

According to a report by Vanguard, the husband was  supporting PDP while Onyiyechi supported the APC. An arguement over who would win the presidential election degenerated into a fight with the wife stabbing her husband inside their one room apartment at the 81 military zone junction in Ejigbo
    A neighbor in their compound narrated what happened, He said;
“We were all outside waiting to vote when Onyiyechi rushed out, shouting for help. Out of curiosity, we all ran inside, only to discover blood all over the ground, on entering their apartment. On closer observation, we noticed that the blood was from her husband chest region. We met him on the ground. Before we could rush him to the hospital, he gave up the ghost. Perhaps, he would have survived the attack had Onyiyechi called for help early. From all indication, it was clear that she attempted to manage the situation immediately the incident occurred. It was when she discovered that the situation had overwhelmed her that she raised alarm. I do not know the name of her husband. We only know that of his wife, who we fondly call Onyiyechi. The irony of this matter is that she is not cantankerous. She has never beaten a little child, let alone to fight with any neighbor. Again on that day, we saw both of them together. They were seen sitting outside, one hour before the incident occurred. Policemen from Ejigbo later came to remove the corpse to the Isolo morgue” the anonymous neighbor said.
The police arrested the suspect while further investigation into the matter is ongoing as some other version of the story claims the couple got into a fight following a disagreement they had after Onyiyechi decided to grate Okro she was to use in preparing their meal inside their one room apartment. Her husband is reported to have instructed her to take it out but she refused which sparked a quarrel and then a fight between them.

  • RELATIONSHIP : Who Cheat The Most, The Men Or The Women

    By Lizzy Adie.

A survey of  more than 3000 people found that women are more likely to cheat than men.
In a poll taken by British dating firm coffee and company , showed that 9 percent of men said they will be unfaithful if they fell  for somebody else, a good percentage of female respondents said they would definitely have an affair if an outsider piqued their interest.
             NOW  WHY DO WOMEN CHEAT
    *   Many look for love elsewhere out of feelings of neglect, either physical or emotional.

    *   If sex becomes kind of boring and predictable, women may wander away to find someone else who can spice things up.

    *  Feeling emotionally undercovered or just flat out ignored can also lead to infidelity.

    *  Many are childless and looking to get more than a good night kiss as a result of the tryst.

    *  Women cheat when they are constantly  been abuse or insulted by their spouse. Some go to find love and comfort in the arms of who will pet them.

It is important to remember that all relationships take work and none is perfect. The solution to unhappiness in love and marriage is probably not to have sex with a stranger. It’s much more likely to involve communicating with your significant other and working out your problems, before you do irreparable harm. Just 15 percent of men say they would forgive a cheater.

  • SPORTS: Muller Says The German's Were Wasteful

    By Eyizle Ene-Okon

    7:35am

The Munich player express sactisfaction though; for moving to the 2nd

place in groups D yesterday, but felt his team did not put up their

best, and should step up in the upcoming games.

Muller acknowledged that the Germans were wasteful in front of goal

after they overcame Georgia 2-0 in Euro 2016 qualifying on Sunday.

He doubled Germany's advantage a minute before half-time after Marco

Reus had opened the scoring five minutes earlier.

Their lead was never threatened and Joachim Low's men eased to a

victory that moves them within a point of Group D leaders Poland,

despite missing a host of further chances. Muller said to the German

    Football

Association's (DFB) website: “I think the key to our success was that

we spent a lot of time in their half. We didn't always play the right

    pass and we lost

the ball too often. “In the second half we could have made it easier

for ourselves. I have mixed feelings because we started strongly but

didn't manage to score after the break. However, it is nice to climb

    up the table.”

Low echoed the Bayern Munich forward's sentiments, adding: “If you

looked at the table ahead of the game you would have seen that we had to

    win today.

“I was happy with how we played in the first half. We combined well and looked

dangerous. After the break we were a bit sloppy and made a few mistakes.

Georgia stayed deep and made it difficult for us.”
