  • LIFESTYLE: Nigerian gay pastor, Jide Macaulay writes letter to Homophobes using bible quotes

    By William Oyo-Ita 10 April 2015 10;40am

Openly gay Nigerian pastor, Jide Macaulay wrote an interesting letter to homophobes on Facebook this morning. Read below…:-)

Far too many people play God and dehumanize Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Trans, and Intersex people throughout the world, in every culture, race, background etc.

The discrimination is so bad that it leaves many LGBTI people wondering and asking questions. This letter to Homophobes is being reproduced to answer many questions people have asked me.

Both heterosexuals and homosexual people, People of all faith have claimed that homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.

    Dear Homophobes,
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your bigoted rhetoric, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, they are clobbered with Leviticus 18:22 which clearly state it to be an abomination…End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.
    1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
    2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
    3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
    4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problems are my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
    5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. Clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
    6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination – Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?
    7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?
    8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
    9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
    10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

    By Dickson Blessing
    8:45am, 10/4/2015
A nanny, Mary Akinloye, who allegedly kidnapped three kids in the Surulere area of Lagos State has demanded N15m as ransom for the children.
The family was contacted on Thursday 9th of April by some suspects demanding 15m before the kids will be released.
The Orekoya’s family whose children were abducted were said to have applied on OLX an online sales portal seeking the services of a nanny, Akinloye had applied and gave two contacts which she said were her relatives.
It was reported that the 23 year old girl resumed work on Tuesday and took the kids out that same day and had not returned. The Orekoya’s who were to finalised their documentation with the nanny’s family this week had called the numbers she gave and they calls were rejected severally and also had not received replies to text messages sent.
The Police Public Relations, Kenneth Nwosu, said investigations were on.
He said, “Investigations are on and that is all I can say for now.
“There are things you do that can jeopardise investigation.
“What is important in a case like this is to ensure that the children are returned hale and hearty. There are information you may have and if you disclose it, you could break the line of communication. So, we are still on the matter to ensure the safe return of the kids.
  • FOREIGN NEWS: Hillary Clinton To Announce 2016 Campaign- Photos

    By Dickson Blessing
    8:33am, 10th April, 2015

Hillary Clinton a former United States secretary of state, US senator and first lady is ready to announce her presidential campaign on Sunday 12th of April 2015

A source revealed that her campaign is likely to kick off with series of smaller events in early-voting states including Iowa and New Hampshire.

Clinton appeared to have a smooth ride in the Democratic nomination – there seems not to be any challenge that may pose a threat to her primaries as her poll numbers in the Democrats has remained strong.

A source reveals ”She’s also led most of her GOP foes in national and state-level polling for much of the past year, though those numbers may be taking a bit of a hit — a new Quinnipiac University poll Thursday showed her slipping in the swing states of Iowa, Colorado and Virginia in the wake of stories about the private email server she used as secretary of state”.

The Democrats are hopeful that the official announcement this weekend would help her stabilize and work more on the outcome of her primaries especially in the states of Iowa, Colorado and Virginia.

  • POLITICS: 9 Unassailable Reasons Why PDP Should Be Voted Out of Power In Cross River State!

    By Joseph Odok|10 April 2015|6:20am

Yesterday, Thursday 8 April 2015 was the last day for governorship and House of Assembly campaigns in Nigeria, and for us in Cross River state, we must learn to vote right and not along party lines/sentiment.

Since 1999, the state has been a PDP state (from federal, state and local government) yet nothing to show for it.
My disappointment is that if the state is PDP and we have PDP President, PDP Senators, PDP House Reps, PDP Governor, PDP House of Assembly members, PDP LGA Chairmen and all the ministers representing the state are all PDP members, then the state should not have been neglected to this level.

Below are 9 incontrovertible reasons why the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) should be voted out of power in Cross River :
    1. Loss of 72 Oil Wells: Akwa Ibom and Cross River state are both PDP states with a PDP president as their party leader, yet the president, he could not call the two sister states to settle their differences, knowing that if all the Oil wells should go to one state, the other state will be suffering a huge financial burden.

    2. CRUTECH Strike: The only state owned university has been on strike since the beginning of this year if not late last year and no hope of reopening soon.

    3. Huge Debt Burden: As reported by By Anietie Akpan, Calabar on March 22, 2015 in Guardian Newspaper, ‘Amidst financial uncertainty, Cross River State Government is said to be wobbling in huge internal debt profile of over N403 billion and external debt of about $100 million’ the implication of this huge debts burden on Cross River is very enormous, meaning schools will continue to be bad, hospital without drugs and other medical kits, workers salaries will continue to be delayed, places with pipe borne water will not be having steady water flow etc.

    4. None-functioning of TINAPA: The multimillion naira TINAPA project is rusting away with any clear plans of utilising it, while the overhead is still covered by the state annual budget.

    5. Wasteful Expenditure (American International Hospital and New International Conference Centre). Despite the desire by the state to improve health care services in the state,
Despite the desire by the citizens for improvement in the health care services , the PDP government have continue to embark on wasteful expenditure in the name of PPP for the construction of multimillion American International Hospital and the New International Conference centre, I think is was a wasteful venture when the state government would have converted some building in TINAPA and make them functional and serve the same purpose.

    6. Bad Roads: We have witnessed in other states where the PDP legislators and government are working together to attract federal government interest to their state in terms of road construction, yet in Cross River the reverse is the case. It very shameful that the PDP government for 16 years couldn’t talk to the PDP appointed Minister of Works at the federal level to fix the following federal roads; Ogoja Ikom Road, Ikom- Obubra road, Obubra- Calabar Road, Calabar-Itu Road, Calabar Ikang road and Calabar Ekang Road. Even the PDP governorship candidate could not utilise an agency like FERMA to fix or repair the every busy Ogoja – Calabar road.

    7. Huge Tax Burden: Today small businesses in the state are suffering because of the indiscriminate tax demand on them, yet most of those business are struggling to make profit caused by poor patronage and high cost of powering business with generators.

    8. Waste Collection: Calabar which was noted for its cleanliness and green nature has suddenly turned to some of the cities in Nigeria, as solid waste are no longer evacuated due to some reason best known to the PDP government.

    9. NO more ALL PDP House of Assembly:
The House of Assembly has been in the pocket of the executives, if not why were they approving huge loans that they knew the state does not have money to pay back.

    So now we need –
    – A House of Assembly that will not be cowed by the Executive.
    – A House of Assembly that will be the embodiment of integrity and not one susceptible to compromising the interest of the people of the State for selfish reasons.
    – A House of Assembly that members would not be engrossed with looking for crumbs to enrich themselves from the Executive Branch of government at the expense of their constitutional responsibilities, to the detriment of the People of the State.
Cross Riverians reflect on this and use the remaining hours to ensure that we are not box into the same corner (cage) that we have always been in the last 16 years.

  • BREAKING: INEC releases statement ahead of Saturday's elections

Press statement from INEC ahead of Saturday Gubernatorial elections..

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received reports that some political leaders are asking members of the public to disregard its stated resolve to use Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and Smart Card Readers (SCRs) for the April 11, 2015Governorship and State Assembly elections.

A particular state governor in the North Central geo-political zone is reported to have assured voters in the state that they could come out to vote on Election Day with Temporary Voter Cards (TVCs) if they do not have the PVC, and that INEC will not be allowed to insist on the use of SCRs for voter accreditation.

Members of the public are strongly advised to disregard false assurances that contradict the regulations INEC has outlined for the Governorship and State Assembly elections. The Commission reaffirms that only voters with genuine PVCs should come out to the polling units on Election Day, and that guidelines issued on the use of SCRs for the April 11 elections will be strictly applied. Any action infringing these guidelines will be an electoral offence, and security agents will be on hand to apprehend offenders.

The Commission commends Nigerian voters for their peaceful conduct and exemplary resilience, even in the face of minor challenges, during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on March 28, 2015. It, however, considers it unfortunate that some leaders would misguide the public and thereby prepare ground for needless disruptions to the polling process on April 11. INEC hereby warns that any obstruction to the processes it has put in place for the elections by any person, no matter how highly placed, will constitute an electoral offence punishable in law.

Meanwhile, the Commission has assigned the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Kogi State, Alhaji Hussaini Halilu Pai, to supervise the conduct of the Governorship and State Assembly elections in Kano State, following the tragic demise of Alhaji Minkala Abdullahi last weekend. Before his posting as FCT REC, Alhaji Pai was Ekiti State REC, who conducted the Governorship Election of June 21, 2014.
