  • Manchester United told they made ‘massive’ mistake letting star player leave

Manchester United’s struggles under Ruben Amorim show no sign of easing after yet another defeat on Sunday.

The Red Devils fell 1-0 to Tottenham, their 12th league loss of the season.

This has left them 15th in the table and just 12 points above the relegation zone.

Despite replacing Erik ten Hag with Amorim in November, United’s form has barely improved.

Former defender Paul Parker believes the club is still suffering from a major mistake made two years ago.

Parker, who won two league titles at Old Trafford, insists United made the wrong decision by letting David de Gea leave and replacing him with Andre Onana.

Speaking to Betfred, he said: “Looking at the backline now, there’s no great pace.

“And you look at the goalkeeper, I think they made a massive mistake letting David de Gea go so quickly.

“They could have kept him there, built a team, and then discussed bringing in a new goalkeeper.

“For me, it’s more important for a goalkeeper to use his hands rather than his feet.”

David De Gea spent 12 years at Old Trafford, making over 500 appearances.

The 34-year-old went on to win the club’s Player of the Year award four times.

He left as a free agent in 2023 after United failed to agree a new contract.

The Spaniard left to join Fiorentina on a free transfer in 2024.

Onana arrived in a £47m deal from Inter Milan, but his performances have come under scrutiny

United have so far conceded 35 league goals this season.

Parker also believes United’s current squad lacks balance and that the club’s reputation is deterring potential signings.

“The midfield lacks creativity, so buying two players isn’t going to be enough.

“Do clubs want to let players go to Manchester United?

“More importantly, do players want to come to United at this time?

“If you’re going to walk into a frying pan, does it make any sense?

“If you’re looking from the outside, then United isn’t a good place to be at this moment in time.”

INEOS are expected to spend heavily in the summer transfer window.

However, major changes will be needed if United are to return to the top under Ruben Amorim.

  • Manchester United youngster set for club debut

Manchester United are experiencing yet another injury crisis, with top players like Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez all forced onto the side-lines.

Martinez has been ruled out until at least the end of the season with a torn ACL, whilst Mainoo and Diallo’s time in the treatment room forced Ruben Amorim’s hand with this week’s team selection.

As a result, Casemiro once more took to the pitch rather than being an unused substitute, whilst Amorim’s bench featured eight of United’s youngsters.

New signings Ayden Heaven, Sekou Kone and Chido Obi sat on the bench at the start of the game, with Harry Amass, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fredricson, Elyh Harrison and Jack Moorhouse joining them.

However, Academy Scoop have now revealed that one of the eight are set for their debut this week.

Taking to X, Academy Scoop revealed that Heaven is set to get his United debut as United’s Under-21 side take on Fulham in the Premier League 2 tonight.

The 18-year-old joined United during the winter transfer window, moving from Arsenal as another option for Amorim’s back three.

As a result, it’s likely that his involvement in the Premier League 2 match is to give the youngster match minutes preparing him to cover for Martinez over the coming months.

Amorim will be needing his squad to be at the top of their game as the season appears to be going from bad to worse, looking to integrate Ayden Heaven and other new signings into the squad as soon as possible.

With United in 15th place in the Premier League, making this their worst ever season, The Red Devils have a long, uphill battle to claim any success this season.

It’s looking more likely that United’s only chance for European football lies in winning the FA Cup for a second year in a row.

Last season United’s victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final was the only reason for their lot in the Europa League, with The Red Devils potentially reliant on this route to Europe once more.

Amorim’s men will be facing Fulham in the Fifth Round at the start of next month, hoping to book their slot in the Quarter-Finals.

  • £50m transfer target wants to join Manchester United

Manchester United are enduring one of their worst-ever Premier League campaigns, currently sitting in the bottom half of the table under Ruben Amorim.

They suffered another setback on Sunday, losing 1-0 to Tottenham, with James Maddison scoring the decisive goal.

Results are desperately needed for Amorim, who has a huge job on his hands to turn things around.

One positive from the Spurs defeat was the performance of new signing Patrick Dorgu.

The Danish full-back played with real zip and purpose on his Premier League debut.

The quicker Amorim can get his players in, the faster United fans will see improvements.

Sporting Lisbon winger Geovany Quenda is keen on a summer move to United, with talks progressing.

That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has exclusively told GiveMeSport about ongoing negotiations.

The 17-year-old starlet is open to a switch to Old Trafford but clubs remain apart on the transfer fee.

Sporting are demanding close to €60m (£50m), while United value him at around €40m (£33m).

Jacobs revealed that both clubs are working to bridge the gap and potentially pre-agree a summer transfer.

“Yeah, I think the player is certainly keen on a move to Manchester United.

“Talks are progressing to see whether something can be pre-agreed ahead of the summer,” Jacobs said.

“Manchester United’s valuation is below that of Sporting’s.

“They feel that the player is worth in the region of 40 million euros.

“Whereas Sporting’s perspective is the number that he should be sold for is closer to the 60 million mark.

“So that gulf in valuation is something that all parties are going to have to work on.”

How does Geovany Quenda fit under Ruben Amorim?

Geovany Quenda has been a key figure for Sporting since making his first-team debut under Ruben Amorim last year.

He has made 38 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and providing seven assists.

The youngster is regarded as one of Europe’s top talents in his position.

With Alejandro Garnacho linked with a summer exit, the position would be free for a top, exciting talent to come in.

If United complete a deal, he could become the second first-team signing under Amorim after Dorgu.

The club are planning a busy summer, with reinforcements expected up front and in midfield.

  • Former Manchester United star could make return

Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League have continued under Ruben Amorim, despite his formation switch.

They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, with James Maddison scoring the winner.

Gary Neville was quick to criticise Amorim’s midfield setup, suggesting Casemiro was left with too much defensive responsibility.

With United looking for midfield solutions, a surprising name has entered the conversation – Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman will be eligible to return to football next month after his drugs ban was reduced last year.

Pogba made 233 appearances for United across two spells.

The Frenchman scored 39 goals and provided countless moments of brilliance.

However, he was also a divisive figure, struggling to replicate the form that made him one of the most coveted midfielders in world football at Juventus.

There have been faint rumours about a possible third stint at Old Trafford.

Rich Fay for Manchester World has hinted at potential possibilities of a return.

Under normal circumstances, the suggestion would be laughable.

However, United’s current situation is anything but normal.

Pogba has barely played in recent years due to injuries and his ban, meaning he would arrive with no match rhythm.

However, United are desperate for reinforcements, having failed to sign anyone in January despite offloading Marcus Rashford and Antony.

The squad’s lack of depth was evident against Spurs.

Victor Lindelof was the only substitute over the age of 19 who had played a senior minute for the club before Sunday.

With Amad likely out for the season and long-term injuries to Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount, United are running out of options.

Pogba’s lack of pressing and defensive work would not make him a natural fit for Amorim’s system.

However, in Amorim’s setup, he could operate as one of the number tens, given more attacking freedom to be creative.

United have scored just 28 league goals this season, making them one of the most unproductive sides in the division.

They cannot afford to turn down potential help, even in the form of a short-term stopgap.

Pogba still possesses a unique ability to create something out of nothing.

A trait only Bruno Fernandes has in the current squad.

A three-month deal could benefit both parties.

It would give United a short-term creative spark while allowing Paul Pogba to prove he can still compete at the highest level.

His wages could be a stumbling block, but United have space on the wage bill.

Especially after Aston Villa agreed to pay 75% of Rashford’s salary.

A pay-as-you-play deal could also be explored to minimise the financial risk.

If it doesn’t work out, United have nothing to lose.

The Red Devils have little to zero chance of making Europe this season.

Under normal circumstances, a third return for Pogba would be pure fantasy.

But desperate times call for desperate measures.

Just one or two moments of magic could make the difference for United before the season ends.

  • Chido Obi reacts to making Manchester United debut following Spurs defeat

Manchester United’s struggles continued with a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Both sides have had difficult seasons, but Spurs capitalised on United’s defensive mistakes.

James Maddison reacted quickest after Andre Onana failed to deal with a shot from Lucas Bergvall.

The goalkeeper parried the ball into Maddison’s path, allowing him an easy finish.

Ruben Amorim’s side was poor in attack, failing to trouble a vulnerable Spurs defense.

Despite that, Amorim only turned to his bench in the final minutes of the game.

Chido Obi was introduced late on to make his first-team debut for the club.

The 17-year-old striker had little time to make an impact in his short cameo.

Obi joined United this season after rejecting a professional contract at Arsenal.

He has impressed in the youth teams, netting a hat-trick against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup.

His call-up was due to United’s injury crisis, with Amad out for the season.

Chido Obi reflected on his “dream” debut despite the disappointing result.

“Disappointed with the loss on a personal note thanks to the gaffer & the club for making a dream come true for me and my family ,” he wrote on Instagram.

Fans were pleased to see Obi get his chance, though many wanted him on earlier.

He was unable to make an impact in three minutes but could have done with more time.

Given United’s struggles, Amorim had little to lose by introducing him sooner.

Hopefully, Obi and other young talents get more chances before the season ends.

With positives hard to come by at Old Trafford, youth promotion is one thing fans can look forward to.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Sheikh Jassim ready to buy out the Glazers

A year after Sir Jim Ratcliffe claimed his 27.7% stake in Manchester United, outbidding Sheikh Jassim, a lot has changed at the club.

The INEOS owner has carried out a series of controversial cost-cutting exercises to ease the financial pressures caused by years of economic mismanagement.

However, Sheikh Jassim hasn’t given up on owning United after losing out to INEOS.

Centre Devils can now reveal that a source close to Jassim has announced that the Sheikh remains interested in the club and is ready to re-enter the bidding for the club should it be open again.

Interestingly, the Sheikh is interested in full ownership or just taking over the Glazers’ 72.3% stake, working alongside Ratcliffe.

This move aligns with the source’s comments: “The goal remains clear, Glazers Out.”

Back in December, it was revealed that Jassim was still interested, with another source commenting: “Sheikh Jassim is still a rich guy. He is still a United fan. He is not going to rush off and try another Premier League club.

They continued: “If the opportunity to buy the whole of Manchester United arose again at some point in the future, it is hard to see there not being a big level of interest. The plans are still there.”

  • Gary Neville lashes out on Ruben Amorim tactic

Manchester United’s disappointing season continued with another frustrating defeat, this time at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, leaving more questions about Ruben Amorim’s tactical approach.

United’s struggles this campaign have been well documented, with inconsistency, injuries, and structural issues preventing the team from finding any real momentum in the Premier League.

Amorim’s high-risk, attacking style has shown glimpses of promise, but defensively, United have been exposed far too often, leading to unnecessary dropped points.

Injuries have only made things worse, particularly in midfield, where United have been forced to field makeshift lineups due to key absences.

The loss of Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer ahead of the Spurs match forced Amorim to improvise, but the tactical gaps left in the team were brutally punished.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes were left to cover vast spaces in midfield, leading to a disjointed performance that left United chasing shadows for much of the game.

It was another display that showcased United’s lack of defensive cohesion, something that has haunted them throughout the season, and it drew strong criticism from one of the club’s most outspoken legends.

Former United captain Gary Neville was left fuming over the team’s structure, particularly pointing out the alarming gaps in midfield and questioning Amorim’s instructions.

Frustrated by the chaotic nature of United’s play, Neville singled out the enormous space between Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, calling it ‘absolute madness’.

“We just said about the distance between the two central midfield players.

“Look at where Casemiro is and where Bruno Fernandes is.

    “That cannot be right.

“It breaks all rules in football.

“Look at them – absolute madness, that.”

The former right-back went further, slamming the overall structure of the team.

“They may score goals, but the structure of the team is awful,” Neville said.

“The gaps in that midfield, that’s a tactical thing – they’ve been told to do that.

“Bruno Fernandes is playing right wing.

    “It’s embarrassing.”

He then compared United’s setup to youth football, insisting, “You wouldn’t see this in Under-9s or Under-10s football.

    “There’s a reason for it.

“It’s because of what [Joshua] Zirkzee did against Newcastle when he kept having to come out to one side.”

Neville concluded by emphasizing how Amorim’s tactical decisions left the midfield completely exposed, stating, “What Amorim’s said is, ‘You stay in there’.

“But that means then it’s impossible for them two behind… that space in midfield there.

    “It’s shocking.”

  • Taiwo Awoniyi set for masked return like Osimhen after injury layoff

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has expressed confidence in the imminent return of Taiwo Awoniyi after the Nigerian forward missed his team’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham.

The Tricky Trees struggled without their key striker, who was sidelined after sustaining a broken nose in a collision with Exeter goalkeeper Joe Whitworth during Forest’s FA Cup victory. His injury forced him to sit out the crucial Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.

Espirito Santo, speaking post-match, clarified that Awoniyi’s absence was due to Premier League concussion protocols rather than a lack of fitness.

“We didn’t have the clearance from the Premier League about the concussion protocols, so he was not able to go in the squad,” Nuno explained, as quoted by Nottingham post. “I hope he will be OK for the next one.”

Despite missing the fixture, reports indicate that Awoniyi is feeling fine. However, Forest must comply with league-mandated safety regulations before he can make his return.

“He is feeling fine, it is about making sure we follow the protocols,” Nuno added. “He was OK, but we have to respect the protocols.”

With his recovery progressing well, Awoniyi might take to the pitch wearing a protective mask, similar to his compatriot Victor Osimhen, who famously plays with one after suffering a similar injury.

  • Manchester United superstar injury return date confirmed

Manchester United’s season has been plagued by injuries, with key players spending significant time on the sidelines at the worst possible moments.

Ruben Amorim’s squad has struggled for consistency, and injuries or illnesses to key figures in midfield, attack, and defense have only added to their problems.

United’s lack of squad depth, particularly in midfield, has been exposed, forcing Amorim to rely on makeshift options and academy talents to fill the gaps.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE CENTRE DEVILS WHATSAPP GROUP CHAT NOW!

Despite strong performances from young players stepping up, the absence of experienced midfielders has made it difficult for United to control games and compete at the highest level.

With no midfield reinforcements arriving in the January transfer window, the club’s decision to hold off on signings is now under scrutiny, especially with multiple starters out.

The goal differential remains negative, and the lack of a solid midfield structure has resulted in United struggling to dictate matches, allowing opponents to exploit spaces far too easily.

Amorim’s tactical system relies heavily on midfield balance, and without his preferred personnel available, United have suffered frustrating losses and dropped points.

Fans have been desperate for positive injury updates as United’s current options in midfield are not enough to sustain a push for European qualification.

According to Chris Wheeler via X, Kobbie Mainoo has now been ruled out for approximately six weeks due to injury.

The 19-year-old has been a crucial figure in United’s midfield this season, and his absence will be a huge blow to Ruben Amorim’s plans.

With Mainoo sidelined, United will have to depend on a struggling Casemiro, an out-of-position Bruno Fernandes, and limited backup options in the coming weeks.

The timing of this setback is particularly frustrating, as United failed to bring in reinforcements in January, leaving Amorim with minimal depth in central midfield.

Mainoo’s return is expected in late April, but in the meantime, United must find a way to cope without one of their brightest young talents.
