Another title with a rather impressive IMDb rating of 7.2, Snowden (2016), is coming to HBO Max on January 15. Snowden revolves around Edward Snowden, a prominent contractor portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Frustrated with the US intelligence sector, he quits his role at the National Security Agency. He discovers the extensive gathering of data that surveils not only foreign governments and terrorist groups but also ordinary Americans. Choosing to expose this classified information, Snowden is branded a traitor by some, hailed a hero by others, and ends up on the run from the law.
