My Happy Marriage debuted on Netflix in July 2023, and it didn’t take much time to become the biggest new anime of the year. It was so well received by the fandom that it replaced Bleach and assumed the Top position on MAL for several weeks during its run and even after. The anime’s first season introduced us fans to the adorable couple Miyo Saimori and Kiyoka Kudou, whom fate brings together, and they struggle a lot to be with each other. While love started blooming between the two, there were several mysteries that only the sequel could solve. So, if you’re wondering about the next season, here is everything you need to know about My Happy Marriage Season 2.

We already have a release window for the anime sequel. My Happy Marriage Season 2 is confirmed to be released in January 2025. Although we do not have a release date at the moment, we know that the sequel isn’t that far.
Given the popularity of the first season, the announcement of a sequel ahead of the final episode didn’t come as a surprise, as we all knew the anime would return with a second season sooner or later. The news of the show’s renewal emerged through an official X post with a beautiful key visual featuring Miyo and Kiyoka.

Besides that, the voice actors behind the lead couple shared a video on YouTube in which they appeared in similar outfits to the ones we saw Miyo and Kiyoka in. Miyo’s voice actor, Reina Ueda, and Kiyoka’s voice actor, Kaito Ishikawa, began with their introductions, and then, without any delay said, “Guess What? The Production of My Happy Marriage Season 2 has been confirmed.”
Ueda also said that the first season only laid the groundwork, but the story will finally commence in Season 2. On the other hand, Ishikawa hinted that the season would be a lot more than just romance anime.
My Happy Marriage Season 2: New Characters
The voice actors’ announcement video revealed that the new season will introduce us to some new characters. Those include:
Tadakiyo Kudou
Tadakiyo Kudou is the father of Kiyoka and Hazuki and lives in the countryside with his wife. Before Kiyoka, Tadakiyo was the head of the Kudou bloodline. Despite having abilities like Spirit-Sight, Aerokinesis, and Electrokinesis, he couldn’t handle the responsibilities of a leader due to his weak health. So, as soon as Kiyoka completed his graduation, Tadakiyo passed on his position and power to him. Above all, he was the one to send his son’s marriage proposal to Miyo.
In the trailer for Season 2, we see him greeting Miyo and asking her and Kiyoka to visit the villa where he lives with his wife. Kiyoka doesn’t seem to be very fond of his father, so there are hopes that Miyo will not only take care of her relationship with Kiyoka, but she will also help Tadakiyo unite with his son.
Tadakiyo Kudou is voiced by Ryōtarō Okiayu, whom we have heard in popular anime shows, including Bleach, Fruits Basket, Blue Exorcist, and more.
Fuyu Kudou
Fuyu Kudou is the wife of Tadakiyo and Hazuki and Kiyoka’s mother. She was raised in an influential family, which is why she has a very different attitude toward life and everyone around her. She is a foul-mouthed woman who would not keep her words in check. On her first meeting with Miyo, Fuyu says, “Who is this scruffy-looking girl?” The next moment, the lady asks her to do household chores and prove her usefulness.
Unlike Tadakiyo, she initially dislikes Miyo, so My Happy Marriage Season 2 might see her causing Miyo trouble. The renowned Japanese voice actor Kikuko Inoue plays Fuyu. She has been in the industry since 1988, and until now, she has taken tons of voice-acting projects, including Ranma ½ series, Captain Tsubasa, The Devil Is a Part-Timer!!, and many more.
Naoshi Usui
Naoshi Usui is the leader of the Gifted Communion and a distant relative of Miyo’s mother, Sumi. He wanted to marry Sumi because he was aware of her powers. Besides that, he also knew that if Sumi agreed to the marriage proposal, he would become the head of the Usuba clan as well.
However, the Emperor tricks the Usubas and gets Sumi married into the Saimori family. Following the wedding, Naoshi breaks all ties with the Usuba family and leaves for an unknown place. The trailer suggests that he will make a comeback, and Miyo must be prepared for this antagonist.
Hidekazu Uchida voices this villainous character in My Happy Marriage Season 2. The voice actor has lent his voice to several anime characters in some of the most prominent projects, such as Tokyo Ghoul, Bungou Stray Dogs 3, Chainsaw Man, and more.

Besides them, we also met Kiyoka’s family for the first time and witnessed the villa where the handsome young man’s parents live. While Kiyoka’s father looks happy seeing his son choosing Miyo as his life partner, his mother doesn’t seem pleased as she judges the young girl by her appearance. Moreover, a new threat arrives in the form of Naoshi Usui, Miyo’s distant uncle.
My Happy Marriage Season 2 Plot
My Happy Marriage Season 1 showed Miyo Saimori and Kiyoka Kudou going beyond their limits to be with each other. The duo came together due to an arranged marriage alliance, but their relationship eventually evolved, and they realized their true feelings for each other.
Miyo also learned about the powers that her mother had sealed when she was too young, and she met her maternal relatives, but there seemed to be plenty of things that were still under wraps.
Now, as we head towards Season 2, we must expect to get answers to every unanswered query. Also, Miyo and Saimori must face every threat that comes their way, and the former will also focus on her newly found powers that she must train to master.
