In a hero shooter, the characters you choose decide your fate in victory. The same goes for Marvel Rivals even more, as your favorite Marvel characters are also part of it. So, which characters are in meta, and which ones should you absolutely play? Find them out in our Marvel Rivals characters tier list and learn which ones are the best right now.
The Marvel Rivals tier list is based on Season 0 statistics and information.
S-Tier Marvel Rivals Characters
The S-tier is for the characters who feel overpowered to play as or against. Moreover, they have either a massive damage output for little to no effort gameplay, or they can get in and out of fights due to their broken mechanics. Here are all the Marvel Rivals characters who deserve to be in the S tier:
Cloak and Dagger
Cloak and Dagger are almost invincible if you keep switching between them. Cloak is a great healer, while Dagger deals a lot of damage. This blend of one character makes them a perfect choice in any skill lobby. Although a strategist seems just like a healer, you can self-sustain and keep killing enemies with Cloak and Dagger.
Venom
While Venom is not the best damage dealer, he is the ideal tank for any team composition. Swing in for your team or go out with a massive armor bonus when you are low on health. Yes, Venom has all the tank skills you need as a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals. Already having a massive health bar, these additions make Venom deserve this spot on our tier.
Psylocke
The first duelist in our S-tier is Psylocke. Her normal attacks deal massive damage from a fair distance. However, her dash and invisibility make her a menace to deal with. But it is her ultimate, which makes her go invincible, that puts her in this overpowered category.
Luna Snow
Luna Snow is the perfect support character in Marvel Rivals. While other healers struggle with moving around, she comes with great movement to keep up with the duelists in the team. Moreover, her burst of healing and her power to freeze enemies with a very cooldown make her a perfect choice for any team.
Loki
Loki is overpowered in this meta if you want to play a strategist who is more than just healing. He can create illusions, go invisible, and teleport around. His pesky illusions also deal damage while you move around. When paired with his potent healing abilities, Loki becomes a problematic force on the battlefield, capable of both supporting his team and eliminating enemies with surprise attacks.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye’s arrows deal too much damage for being a normal attack in Marvel Rivals season 0. He has massive AOE and single-target abilities, but his normal attacks feel broken with minimum effort.
His ultimate, Hunter’s Sight, creates afterimages that make dodging his attacks nearly impossible. While he can one-shot weaker enemies, his true power lies in his focus mechanic. By focusing on a target, Hawkeye charges his arrows for increased damage.
Adam Warlock
Strategists are the backbone of team composition, and Adam Warlock is one of the strongest in this meta. He can heal multiple allies simultaneously, share stat bonuses, and deal solid damage. However, his ultimate ability is too strong for such a low cooldown.
It creates a ring of resurrection that revives allies once they die within its range. Moreover, his alliance with Star-Lord or Mantis unlocks a cocoon ability that helps them revive themselves once every 105 seconds.
Hela
Want a no-nonsense one-skill wonder? In Marvel Rivals, you get Hela. Her normal attacks deal with massive damage, and she has an ultimate that helps you further enhance that. Hela also has an escape and movement ability with a low cooldown for tricky situations. It fits her name, Goddess of Death, doesn’t it?
Star-Lord
While Peter Quill is not exactly the no-nonsense hitter like Hela, his movement abilities and massive fire rate make him a perfect duelist. If that was the only thing, he might have stayed in the A-tier. However, the insane AOE fire ability and an insane ultimate that lets Star-Lord obliterate enemies make him hard to deal with.
A-Tier Marvel Rivals Characters
While many A-tier characters feel really strong, you will slowly realize they are not too overpowered compared to the S-tier. Despite that, you can easily get a chain of victory if you master these Marvel Rivals characters from the A tier.
Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff, AKA Scarlet Witch, can melt enemies without requiring skill usage or aim. With her, it is easy to shoot down enemies while having an option to retreat out of fights. Her invisibility also helps you position yourself for the massive ultimate that evaporates enemies.
If you can master the in-and-out mechanics with Scarlet Witch, you can easily rack up wins in any Marvel Rivals game mode.
Magneto
While Magneto is a picture-perfect tank, his movement and attacks might feel a bit too slow. You compensate for that with a massive pool of armor and HP. Magneto is a perfect frontline force that the enemies will struggle to deal with.
However, you can add a damaging enhancement to that by having a Scarlet Witch in your team. This will let Magneto swing a massive sword, dealing massive damage to nearby enemies.
Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier, a versatile hero, excels in damage, crowd control, and single-target lockdown. His Roterstern, despite its limited magazine, reloads during bionic arm usage, setting up powerful combos.
His adaptability allows him to fit into diverse team compositions, but his Infinite Grit synergy with Rocket makes them a formidable duo.
Iron Fist
Iron Fist is a formidable hero who goes right into dive comps thanks to his high mobility and powerful combat skills. His rapid combos and self-healing abilities make him a versatile choice, especially in teams lacking substantial healing.
When paired with Luna Snow, their team-up ability, Dragon’s Chill, unleashes crowd control and additional healing, creating a potent duo.
Black Widow
Black Widow, while often compared to Overwatch’s Widowmaker, offers a unique blend of abilities. Her Electro-Plasma Explosion, a powerful area-of-effect slow, sets the stage for her team to capitalize on enemy vulnerabilities.
When not utilizing her baton for close-quarters combat, Black Widow excels at long-range engagements with her Red Room rifle. Although it may not one-shot enemies, the rifle’s significant damage output and her mobility from Edge Dancer make her a formidable force on the battlefield.
Spider-Man
Spider-Man, a fan-favorite hero, is not just beloved for his charm; he’s also a formidable force with high burst damage and incredible mobility. While his combo-driven playstyle and reliance on web-slinging make him challenging to master, skilled players can quickly eliminate healers and other damage dealers.
By marking enemies with Spider-Tracer and closing the gap with Get Over Here!, Spider-Man can deliver powerful combos, often securing quick takedowns. This strategic approach allows him to swiftly eliminate threats and reposition himself, making him a potent force on the battlefield.
Storm
If you are looking for a hybrid support-damage hero, Storm offers a unique, albeit limited, role. Her basic attacks, Bolt Rush, and Goddess Boost provide solid damage output, allowing her to contribute offensively, especially with her flight ability.
Her core mechanic, Weather Control, lets her switch between two potent buffs, enhancing either movement speed or damage. While these buffs can be game-changing in coordinated teams, their full potential often goes untapped in random matchmaking.
Jeff The Land Shark
The cheerful shark Strategist, Jeff, might seem simple, but he packs a powerful punch. His healing abilities keep the team afloat, while his mobility skills and game-changing ultimate make him a valuable asset. With two team-up abilities, Jeff’s versatility shines in various team compositions. But the most fun part about Jeff is his ultimate which lets you gobble enemies up and throw them anywhere.
Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange is perfect in coordinated teams due to his team-wide teleport. His large shield proves invaluable for objective control and defense. While his basic attacks may seem repetitive, they can be devastating in skilled hands.
Charging Dark Magic, a double-edged sword, can either unleash powerful AoE damage or lead to a perilous anti-heal state. Master Doctor Strange, and even you can turn the tide of battle.
Mantis
Want a full healer who is always focusing on supporting the team? Mantis provides sustained healing over time, making her a valuable support character. However, her healing output lacks burst potential, necessitating a strong burst healer like Adam Warlock or Luna Snow to complement her.
Despite this, her constant healing can be frustrating for enemies, and her self-healing ability further enhances her survivability.
B-Tier Marvel Rivals Characters
All B-tier characters are good in low Elo lobbies and ideal heroes for new players. However, after a certain point in the game, these characters start to feel weak for their promise; the reason they are in the B Tier in our Marvel Rivals tier list.
Moon Knight
Moon Knight, though simpler to play than other top-tier characters, is incredibly satisfying. His Crescent Dart and Moon Blade allow for quick, high-damage attacks on multiple enemies.
The Ancient Ankh adds another layer of strategy, providing a stationary target to bounce attacks off of. The Hand of Khonshu, while not a global ultimate, can quickly decimate the enemy team with the right Ankh pull. He also comes with solid mobility but lacks enough damage potential.
Iron Man
A slow hero Iron Man can be really good for players who want to burst down enemies at one instance. His ability to hover above the battlefield grants him an advantage over most opponents. Iron Man is a decent character, capable of dealing consistent damage and weakening groups of enemies.
His ultimate ability delivers significant burst damage, but outside of this, his damage output might not be as explosive as some of the top-tier characters.
Magik
It is undeniable that a good Magik player can destroy teams at will. However, the skill needed to adapt to her playstyle is really high. Her unique ability to teleport and deal substantial melee damage, while gaining health, sets her apart from other melee heroes like Wolverine or Black Panther. Despite that, you will need some solid backup to shine as Magik.
Wolverine
Wolverine is a solid 1v1 fighter and quite unstoppable in certain situations. His core strategy is simple yet devastating: get close, stay close, and unleash his claws. Each hit, whether landed or received, fuels his rage, boosting his power and healing.
Despite the gains, in a game where the teams are mostly together, Wolverine feels bottled up in certain situations. Well, you can have the Hulk in your team to propel yourself towards the team faster.
Squirrel Girl
If you are in your learning days and want to deal decent damage and not do much of other ability stuff, Squirrel Girl is an ideal pick. She’s a powerful character with high damage output and a game-changing ultimate. While aerial threats pose a challenge, her team-up abilities with Spider-Man offer strong crowd control, making her a valuable asset in the game.
Groot
Despite being a quiet tank, Groot can be good in specific team compositions and game modes. His strategy revolves around blocking enemy paths and buffing himself from proximity to these barriers.
This close-quarters playstyle, coupled with his large size, makes him vulnerable. Nevertheless, when paired with aggressive teammates like Venom, Star-Lord, and Scarlet Witch, Groot can be a tough force, overwhelming opponents with merciless pressure.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket Raccoon’s primary role is supportive which leads you to situations where you must prioritize healing over shooting your gun. Sadly, you must do one or the other. He can utilize the Battle Rebirth Beacon to revive fallen allies.
This beacon also supplies periodic armor packs, providing the team’s continued survival, but it will still feel lacking as a support. The only reason for Rocket to stay in B tier in our list is because of his Ammo Overload team-up that you can exploit.
Peni Parker
Spider-scientist, Penni Parker is a delightful hero to try in Marvel Rivals. However, her trap-based abilities can hinder her mobility. While her traps can inflict significant damage, opponents often anticipate them.
This defensive playstyle can limit her ability to actively push objectives. Nevertheless, her web-slinging skills provide her with a significant advantage in terms of survivability.
Hulk
While possessing three distinct forms, Hulk offers a less complex gameplay experience than it might initially seem. Most of your time will be spent as the relatively weak Hero Hulk. His abilities, ranging from basic punches to gamma-ray blasts, are focused on dealing damage, but their impact is limited.
Additionally, his large, hulking form makes him an easy target, and he lacks substantial defensive options. It’s crucial to have a strong damage dealer on your team to compensate for Hulk’s limitations.
Thor
Thor can be a confusing Vanguard given that he prioritizes raw power over utility. His three-star potential, while enticing, requires careful management of his Thorforce stacks. Additionally, the two-second cooldown on his abilities limits his frequency of use. Nevertheless, it will require a skilled player who can harness Thor’s destructive force. Outside that, Thor is a weak tank character.
C-Tier Marvel Rivals Characters
Our Marvel Rivals characters tier list does not have any specific D-tier. The reason behind that is how almost every character in the game feels good if you can use them. However, some characters are more punishable for how much they offer. We have listed these characters in our C-tier of Marvel Rivals tier list.
The Punisher
The Punisher is one of the best characters to learn first in the game. With him, you get to shoot down enemies at your will. However, the bullets do not deal enough damage which will make you feel less in higher skill level games. While having Rocket by your side might make you a bit more effective, everything comes down to how good your accuracy is with The Punisher.
Black Panther
Black Panther is a melee duelist who can feel very squishy in a team with no healers. Although it is a great hero to learn in early lobbies, there are better melee characters you can switch to later. Black Panther will often feel like a washed-down version of Iron Fist. You can play him in low lobbies or practice melee combat as him but do not expect much output.
Captain America
Vanguards are one of the key parts of a team composition but Captain America feels a little lackluster in that aspect. Despite being a tank, his shield can feel small to block damage. This will lead you to multiple vulnerable situations, given you will always stay on the front line.
Namor
If you want to try a duelist, you can avoid playing Namor. While he comes with his little sea buddies, Namor doesn’t fulfill the shoes of a duelist character. You have plenty of better options in the roster to replace him. I suggest Loki if you want to play a summon character or Hela if you want to go all in with click damage.
