It is expected to be a busy summer in the red side of Manchester, with multiple departures and signings expected. As a matter of fact, a mass exodus of close to 15 players is rumoured.
Sir Jim and his INEOS contingent are expected to oversee a massive clear-out of players to reduce the gargantuan wage bill and average age of players as part of their rebuild of the club.
One of the players expected to be let go of is 22-year-old winger who frankly hasn’t had a proper chance to prove himself in a United shirt, Facundo Pellistri.
The Uruguayan was brought in by Ole in October 2020 for 9 million pounds amid a lot of hype and publicity. He has however failed to live up to even an iota of all that hype, being relegated to loan spells here and there.
He was considered one of the best young prospects in world football back in the day and that is why the Red Devils paid quite a handsome fee for a teenager to sign him.
While Erik ten Hag wanted him in his ranks for the 2023/24 season, the Dutch manager could only give him around 380 minutes of first-team football over 14 matches during the first half of the season.
The move hasn’t worked out as planned. Since making the move to England, he has only featured in a total of 24 matches, and the majority of those appearances have come off the bench.
The latest loan has been a spell with Granada, and it has not gone exactly according to plan either. He has started just three of his 13 appearances this season, and it is clear why Man Utd are reportedly open to offloading him.
The Red Devils will sanction his departure if they receive an amount they feel is good enough. They are looking to make a profit on the £9 million they paid for him back in the day.
