WhatsApp has released a new feature in its latest Android beta update (version 2.25.7.9). This update, available through the Google Play Beta Program, allows users to add social media profile links to their WhatsApp account. This makes it easier to share profiles and connect with others across different platforms.
Easier Social Media Sharing
With this update, users can now add their Instagram profile link to their WhatsApp account. Once added, the link will appear at the top of the chat info page, allowing contacts to visit the profile with just one tap.
Currently, Instagram is the only supported platform, but WhatsApp plans to add more social media links in future updates. This feature eliminates the need to send profile links manually, making it more convenient to connect with people.
Privacy Controls for Social Media Links
WhatsApp has also introduced privacy settings to let users control who can see their social media links. Users can choose from four visibility options:
Everyone – Anyone can see your linked profile.
Only contacts – Only people saved in your contacts can view the link.
Specific contacts – You can select certain people to share your link with.
No one – Keep your profile links completely private.
These options give users full control over their online presence and allow them to manage their privacy effectively.
Beta Rollout and Availability
Right now, the feature is only available to some beta testers in the Google Play Beta Program. WhatsApp will gradually expand the rollout to more users in the coming weeks.
Upcoming Status-Saving Feature
Along with social media links, WhatsApp is also testing a status-saving feature. This will allow users to save photos and videos from their own status updates directly on their device. This feature makes it easier to repost content or keep important updates without needing third-party apps.
These updates show WhatsApp’s commitment to improving the user experience by making it easier to share profiles and save status updates effortlessly.
