At the time of writing this, the world is privy to the identities of the entire Tekken 8 launch roster. There are 32 combatants to choose from, and despite every one of them already being revealed, we still haven’t quite seen what all of the fighters on this cast can do.
Bandai Namco has released a new gameplay trailer this morning that stars Leo. This combatant returns to “punch the truth” out of opponents, and based on the trailer, that’s exactly what Leo is equipped to do in this iteration of the Tekken series.
Leo joined the Tekken roster back in 2007 with the release of Tekken 6 in Japanese arcades. Hailing from Germany, Leo uses the Baji Quan fighting style, which is a Chinese fighting style that utilizes powerful elbow strikes, punches, hip checks, and shoulder strikes.
Here in 2023, though, Leo is back and looks better than ever. This new gameplay trailer walks fans through the various key techniques that the contenders in Tekken 8 have at their disposal, including different combo strings and special moves, Heat System attacks, and a Rage Art.
In Tekken 8, Leo appears to be a speedy, offense-driven fighter. With quick uppercuts and elbow strikes, Leo applies heavy pressure, then converts into big combos thanks to the attacks’ juggle potential.
Using Tekken 8’s new Heat System, Leo can string together some truly devastating sequences. For the big cinematic Rage Art maneuver, Leo knocks the opponent back and brings out a grappling gun before literally swinging around the stage. Leo closes it out with a powerful shoulder strike that sends the opponent flying.
Tekken 8 is set for release on January 26, 2024. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
