This summer has already seen Manchester United and Chelsea head to head, with links to a number of the same players as both team try to strengthen their defensive line and their strike force.

Recent reports from Fabrizio Romano claimed that both clubs requested information on Hoffenheim’s striker Maximillian Beier, to bring another young striker to the clubs.

In place of Beier, Chelsea have been in talks with Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, with United looking to potentially sabotage the deal and swoop for the striker while talks with Chelsea have stalled.

Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is another player linked with both teams, with the player closer to a Stamford Bridge move than Old Trafford, as Chelsea have met with the winger’s representatives to conclude a deal.

However, in recent weeks another target that’s come in between the two teams is centre-back Aaron Anselmino, currently playing a Boca Juniors in Argentina.

The 19-year-old has been on the radar for both teams since the start of the year, and despite being ruled out with injury for two months now, only three months into his professional debut season, he’s still in the thoughts of the Premier League giants.

Now, reports from TyC Sports claim that Chelsea have put in an initial bid of $18 million for the young defender. It’s expected that the Red Devils are not looking to lose out on the Argentinian prospect, so their interest in Anselmino is likely to become a bid in the coming days to rival that of Chelsea.

Despite the release clause for the young star being $25 million, it’s expected that an offer of only $7 million under this for a player who has had limited game time for Boca could be very seriously considered by the club.
