New Character BGM feature and music shop announced for Street Fighter 6

The time has almost arrived with just over a day until Akuma arrives in Street Fighter 6, and he’s bringing some new toys to play with as well.

Capcom just announced a new Character BGM feature that’s been highly requested for SF6 as well as a shop to contain said music.

As was previously leaked and then basically confirmed, Character BGM Settings are being added to the game that allows players to choose what they want to hear in battle.

Moreover, users can create and edit their own playlists per character to use seemingly in both offline and online battles.

It looks like the new settings can either be accessed through the stage select screen or in Battle Settings under the Other tab where Battle BGM shows up above the commentary.

According to the footage shown, tracks in a playlist will be played in a random order during battle.

Although they don’t really show it in the trailer, Capcom says a new music shop will be available in game as well to actually build out those playlists.

Street Fighter 2, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Ultra Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3 (New Generation, Second Impact and Third Strike), Street Fighter Alpha (Warriors’ Dreams, 2 and 3), Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 5 are all shown to have their music included.

The tracks can apparently be purchased with either Drive Tickets or Fighter Coins though we don’t know how much they’re going to cost yet.

Their wording isn’t entirely clear either if you can purchase individual pieces or will be forced to acquire full game packs to use.

The new feature and music shop will be dropping on May 22 alongside Akuma, the big balance update, new Outfit 3 DLC, combo trials and more.

You can take a listen to the incoming addition in the trailer below.
