E. Honda player pulls off a clutch comeback while in burnout during Capcom Pro Tour 2023 France Offline

The Capcom Pro Tour 2023 France Offline is one of the big FGC tournaments happening this weekend. Over 400 players have signed up to compete in hopes of qualifying for the Capcom Cup finals.

At one point during the tournament, NassimClaw, an E. Honda user, found himself going up against GyoGun|Moke’s Chun-Li. It ended up being an intense set that came down to its final game.

By this point in the set, both players already had one win over each other. The next player to win a game would continue advancing in the winners side of the bracket.

At the beginning of the second round of the game, NassimClaw opted to test Moke’s reactions with E. Honda’s Sumo Smash special. Moke ended up passing the test by anti-airing it, putting NassimClaw in a precarious position near the corner.

From here, NassimClaw was forced to eat Chun-Li’s Super Art 2. Following that, he had to block a series of normals that kept draining his Drive Gauge.

Before he could land a single hit, NassimClaw was down to his last bit of health and only a single bar of Drive Gauge remaining. Rather than allowing to to disappear by blocking, NassimClaw instead chose to spend it on a Drive Impact. It was a risky play, but it ended up paying off for him big time.

Rather than going for damage, NassimClaw used this as an opportunity to get himself out of the corner by performing a backwards throw. With his Drive Gauge now completely dry, his ability to inflict damage was naturally reduced. Most players might’ve opted to wait for the Burnout status to end, NassimClaw instead saw this as an opportunity to step up the offensive pressure.

In the end, it took three openings for him to completely obliterate Chun-Li’s life bar, all without a single Drive Rush or Overdrive special. Check it out below:
