The Winter season has been great for anime fanatics, thanks to popular series like Solo Leveling and Sakamoto Days. However, it is almost time to bid goodbye to this season and move on to the Spring anime season. Starting April 2025, the Spring season will be a good month for anime fans as several much-anticipated series will premiere next month. If you’re wondering what to look forward to, here are some of the best anime series releasing in Spring 2025.
1. The Beginning After The End
- Release Date: April 2, 2025
- Where to Stream: Crunchyroll
- Studio: A-Cat
- Director: Keitaro Motonaga
Following the success of Solo Leveling, the anime industry is ready to grace us with another anime adaptation of a popular manhwa series. While Solo Leveling is known for its protagonist, TBATE is popular for its overall narrative and character development. It’s a beautiful story that needs to be told through anime, and after a long wait, we are finally getting one.
The Beginning After the End is a reincarnation story that features the second life of King Grey, who gets reincarnated in a fantastical world as Arthur. This was clearly a second chance for Arthur, so he tends to correct his past mistakes by leading a good life while also being compassionate for everyone around him.
2. Wind Breaker Season 2
- Release Date: April 3, 2025
- Where to Stream: Crunchyroll
- Studio: CloverWorks
- Director: Toshifumi Akai
Wind Breaker Season 1 was a commercial success, and now, we are approaching the premiere of the much-anticipated second season. Initially, the series seemed similar to Tokyo Revengers, but with time, we learned that Wind Breaker has way more potential. Wind Breaker Season 1 received heavy praise for its well-crafted battle scenes, animation, and incredible characters.
The first season of Wind Breaker laid the foundation and adapted 41 chapters of the manga. The new season will kickstart from chapter 42 and allow fans to witness some of the intense battles of the series. Sakura will also come across more challenges, and his friendships will be tested. Hence, the upcoming season of the anime series will be a banger that will feature some amazing character growth.
3. Devil May Cry
- Release Date: April 3, 2025
- Where to Stream: Netflix
- Studio: Mir
- Director: Adi Shankar
Devil May Cry isn’t technically an anime series, as it’s an American animation series. However, it’s incredibly hard to distinguish it from the Japanese animation. Also, almost every animated work from Adi Shankar is marketed as anime, so we thought it’s best to mention this anticipated project in our list.
Devil May Cry is based on a popular video game franchise of the same name. DMC is famous for its incredible characters and violent and action-packed story. In short, it’s a perfect tale to be retold in animation format.
Adi Shankar is known for his incredible work on the Castlevania series, and now, the creator is back to surprise us with another anime adaptation of a video game. As expected, it’s a Netflix original that is set to release on the streaming platform on April 3, 2025.
4. From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman
- Release Date: April 5, 2025
- Where to Stream: Amazon Prime Video
- Studio: Passione and Hayabusa Film
- Director: Akio Kazumi
Before starting its journey as a manga, From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman was a novel published on a user-generated website and a light novel when Square Enix acquired the rights. The anime adaptation was announced in August 2024, and recently, it received a trailer accompanied by a key visual. It has been produced by Passione Studio, which has previously blessed the industry with some incredible anime like Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, Loner Life in Another World, and more.
The series follows a sword instructor named Beryl Gardinant, who identifies himself as a humble old man. His life starts to change when some of his former students ask him to be their special instructor. The trailer for the anime flaunts smooth animation and amazing character designs, making the new anime worth giving a shot.
5. Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc
- Release Date: April 5, 2025
- Where to Stream: Crunchyroll
- Studio: CloverWorks
- Director: Kenjiro Okada
Black Butler is probably one of the most underrated anime series of the last decade. The series has been going on since 2008 and has received multiple OVAs throughout the years. Now, the anime is all set to return to Crunchyroll with its fifth season in April 2025.
Season 5 of Black Butler will cover the events from the Emerald Witch arc, which is the eighth story arc of the manga series. The new season will see Sebastian and Ciel traveling to Germany to uncover the mystery of the Werewolves’ Forest. However, things won’t be easy for the duo, as a curse will put their lives at risk.
6. Fire Force Season 3
- Release Date: Part 1 (April 4, 2025) and Part 2 (January 2026)
- Where to Stream: Crunchyroll
- Studio: David Production
- Director: Tatsuma Minamikawa
Fire Force is an incredible anime series that sadly couldn’t gain as much recognition as series like Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer. The primary reason for that is the production delays. For context, the second season of Fire Force premiered back in 2020, and the much-awaited Season 3 is set to release in 2025. So, we are getting a new season after almost five years.
Despite all that, Fire Force Season 3 is the most awaited series of this year, and for the right reasons. The anime is known for its incredible animation and some fiery action sequences. It has as complex characters as My Hero Academia, and we can’t wait to experience the ultimate finale of Fire Force through Season 3. The third season will be the final one and will be divided into two cours. The first cour is set to premiere on April 5, 2025, on Crunchyroll, and the series will return with the second cour in January 2026.
7. Lazarus
- Release Date: April 5, 2025
- Where to Stream: Amazon Prime Video
- Studio: MAPPA
- Director: Shinichirō Watanabe
Lazarus is an upcoming anime series from MAPPA; Yes, the legendary animation studio that breaks viewership records with each project. Interestingly, Lazarus is an original story that was written for television, so there’s no surety that the story will be good.
That being said, the animation in Lazarus’ trailer looks spectacular and one of a kind, so everyone is intrigued to see if the story will leave its mark on the anime fandom. The synopsis of the anime seems interesting, though. It’s a story where most of humanity consumed a drug called Hapna; however, the drug’s creator confirms that everyone who has conceded his product will die in exactly three and half years unless they find him. The anime might actually be good, and you can experience it starting in April on Adult Swim’s Toonami block.
8. Witch Watch
- Release Date: April 6, 2025
- Where to Stream: Netflix and Crunchyroll
- Studio: Bibury Studios
- Director: Hiroshi Ikehata
While Spring 2025 will be dominated by action-packed anime series, Witch Watch will add some diversity to the season with its romantic setting. Animated by Bibury Animation Studios, the upcoming anime series is set in a fantasy world where Nico Wakatsuki, a witch, sets out to live with an ogre, Morihito Otogi.
What’s strange is that Morihito looks like a human despite being an ogre, and Nico has a crush on him. So, while living with Morihito’s family, Nico hopes to form a romantic relationship with him. However, they are forced to face some legendary and mysterious beings before starting their love story. Witch Watch can offer the fandom a break from the action and violent stories in April 2025, and fans can watch it on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. The availability of the anime series on these platforms may vary depending on your region, though.
9. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
- Release Date: April 7, 2025
- Where to Stream: Crunchyroll
- Studio: Bones Film
- Director: Kenichi Suzuki
Deku’s story might be over, but My Hero Academia isn’t, as the series will return with its much-awaited spin-off soon. Right now, it’s hard to say if the story will be as good as the original, but it’s safe to say that the fandom is hopeful.
The spin-off is a prequel series and is set five years before the main series’ timeline. So, get ready to see a new set of characters while also meeting younger versions of your favorite characters from the main series. Koichi Haimawari is the main protagonist of the series, who sets out to become a hero, following in the footsteps of All Might.
Koichi Haimawari’s story will start on Crunchyroll this April, so mark your calendars to witness the journey of hooded and masked heroes who call themselves the “Vigilantes.”
10. Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Season 2
- Release Date: April 13, 2025
- Where to Stream: Disney Plus and Hulu
- Studio: Yostar Pictures
- Director: Keiichi Sato
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! is yet another underrated anime series that premiered last year. The series is set to return with a second season in April, and despite getting less marketing around the series, the fandom is excited to see what Season 2 will have to offer.
The story follows Footsoldier D, a normal soldier who rebels against the Dragon Keepers after facing humiliation and exploitation for several years. It’s a rather interesting story that puts the spotlight on the villainous entity and lets the audience know that there’s always a hero within the villains.
Season 2 of Go! Go! Loser Ranger! is set to premiere on April 13, and unlike other series on this list, this one will stream on Disney Plus for the global fandom.
