Zangief user's 10,000 IQ move not only avoids a chip kill but also wins the match in Street Fighter 6

Earlier this year, 00|Veggey was able to finish at 25th place at Capcom Cup X’s Last Chance Qualifier event. This is especially impressive considering that Veggey uses Zangief, a character generally regarded as being low tier in Street Fighter 6.

Recently, Veggey posted an interesting clip that depicted one of his online matches against a Ken player. Veggey had already taken the first round, but he was trapped in the corner and with only a sliver of life remaining. Considering that Veggey was also in Burnout, it was looking like the opponent was going to take a guaranteed victory in the second round of the match.

Sure of their victory, the opposing Ken player opted to use a meaty Dragon Punch for a chip kill victory. Fortunately for Veggey, Ken was also in Burnout so he couldn’t use his Overdrive Dragon Punch, which has extra invincibility.

Of course, Zangief isn’t exactly known for having the best reversal options in Street Fighter 6. Though his level 1 Super Art has invincibility, it will only connect against airborne opponents. Even then, there are better anti-air options in Street Fighter 6.

Regardless, Veggey understood exactly what needed to be done in this situation. To counter Ken’s chip damage attempt, Veggey used Zangief’s level 1 Super Art. Not only did this prevent Veggey from losing, but it also awarded him the win.

This was clearly a calculated risk of Veggey’s part. Even if his plan had failed, he’d have two bars of super gauge going into the third round against Ken’s remaining one bar of super meter. Veggey would still be at an advantage going into the final round of the match.
