Zangief in the top 5 and M. Bison looking strong in first Street Fighter 6 Season 2 tier list from former Capcom Cup champion

Season 2 of Street Fighter 6 is now in full swing with not only the previous balance patch but also M. Bison joining last week as the latest DLC character to kick off the new content.

RB|Gachikun recently put together his first tier list for Street Fighter 6 Season 2, and the 2018 Capcom Cup champion has some very interesting picks for who he currently sees at the top.

Gachikun starts out his placements with his top 5 except there’s 10 characters up there who he feels are potentially strong enough to make the cut.

Those are Zangief, Guile, Ken, Cammy, M. Bison, Chun-Li, Rashid, Ed, Akuma and Juri.

After doing some more sorting and ranking, he does manage to cut it down to Cammy, Ken, Guile, Zangief and Rashid in order with the others moved one step below as characters who could make the top 5 — with the exception of Juri, who ends up in A tier.

It seems Gachikun has some high expectations from his early impressions with M. Bison to put him that close to the top in less than a week, but that carries over to most of the other DLC fighters too since A.K.I. is the only one he doesn’t have in the running for the best.

And even then, the poison user is still in A.

Some of the previous meta contenders are apparently not faring as well in the former world champ’s eyes, however, that may come as a surprise to other players.

Luke, arguably the best character of Season 1, is down over halfway in the rankings in only B tier along with Dee Jay and JP.

He also put a total of four fighters down in C tier as well though they are a bit less shocking unless you saw Ryu as one of the biggest winners of the patch.

There’s certainly been a lot of discussion surrounding Zangief since the re-balancing, and Gachikun appears to believe the hype after these initial rounds of competition against the likes of DFM|Itabashi Zangief and other strong grapplers in Japan.

He doesn’t sell his own character short either, though, as the veteran pro has Rashid right up there next to the wrestler.

It’ll be very interesting to see where SF6 is at competitively in another month following Evo 2024, which we just got the final attendance numbers for, but right now one of the best players in the world views the game quite differently than it was at Capcom Cup X.

You can check out Gachikun’s full tier list for SF6 Season 2 below, and the breakdown of his placements can be found on his Twitch archive though it’s obviously all in Japanese.
