Zamfara lawmaker donates 50 hospital beds, mattresses to community

A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC-Zamfara), has donated 50 hospital beds, mattresses and other hospital equipment to the Primary Healthcare Centre in the Kwatarkwashi community of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara.

Legislative Assistant to Mr Zubairu, Jamilu Umar, disclosed this while conducting journalists round the facility on Sunday.

Mr Zubairu is representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber.

Mr Umar said that the hospital was part of the nine health facilities renovated by the lawmaker in Maru and Bungudu council areas.

He said that renovated facilities included: two dispensaries in the Kwanar Rawayya and Runji communities as well as a PHC in the Rawayya community.

He said, “Other renovated facilities are General Hospital, Dansadau, PHC Dankurmi, Comprehensive Primary Health Centre, Mayanchi and the PHCs in Bungudu and Bingi towns.’’

The legislative aide said that the lawmaker also built a community women and children hospital in Bungudu town, as part of his efforts to promote rural healthcare delivery.

Also speaking, the Assistant Head of the hospital, Akilu Isah, commended the lawmaker for giving priority to rural healthcare delivery.

Mr Isah noted that before the lawmaker’s intervention, the hospital had remained dilapidated and without any medical equipment.

He said, “We thank God and commend Hon Zubairu for his kind gesture. With this intervention, our theatre room, laboratory and other departments and wards are now well-renovated and equipped. We are now doing 24-hour operation.’’
