The theme selected for the programme is, The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Production and Consumption. Father of the Day is Pst J. I. Okoro, the General Overseer of the Bible Christian Crusaders Mission (BCCM); Special Guest is Prince Godswill Edward Osim, SA to the Governor of Cross River State on Youth Affairs; Contributors are Mr Great Ogban, CEO of Leaders Den; Mr Awade Friday, CEO of LaffHouze Entertainment; and Ambassador Christabella Ndubuisi of Bella Waters.

The event is proudly powered by Kalu Foundation, and Possibility Reality Group in media partnership with 360 Degrees Nation, and Negroid Haven.

According to the organisers the commemoration is tailored to answer the basic question —'How can young people bring winning solutions to the problems of Unemployment and Governance/Leadership?'. The objectives are phrased thus:
1. To help young people see Nigeria from a different perspective
2. Providing winning solutions to sectoral problems in Nigeria
3. To help participants learn how to engage with solutions
4. Help participants understand how to build sustainability in leadership.

It suffices to say then that the purpose for the event is 'to commemorate the United Nations International Youth Day by engaging youthful minds in providing winning solutions to socioeconomic problems in Nigeria through innovative and creative thinking', with particular focus on providing winning solutions to unemployment and ineffective leadership in Nigeria.

According to Oseuno Inspire Justus, one of the organisers of the event, 'When it comes to Nigeria, we do have a lot to talk about. The giant of Africa as popularly called by many. We could go on from leadership challenges, state of the economy, corruption in all tiers of government and private agencies, youth unemployment or should I talk of the fact that most youth are not even employable. We still see our name in the list of under developed countries in the world, while other countries are moving from under developed to leading economy yet we still move back and forth to nowhere'.

'According to Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, “In Nigeria, we produce everything we don’t consume and consume everything we don’t produce. We even import Toothpick. It’s such an irony that Youth Unemployment remains one of the greatest challenges of our country, yet we keep importing labour from other countries instead of training our own youth to become empowered and eligible for these jobs. We spend billions of Naira paying low cost skilled labourers from Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and Niger and high level expatriates from China, Lebanon, India, the Philippines etc. We are merely deliberately rendering our youth useless. “And I cant help but totally agree with her', he continued.

However, Justus again noted that, 'Well, only time will tell, but before the fullness of time comes, we need to start from where we need to be part of the process to bring the real change our country deserves, we know our problems and our problems sure knows us. Its time we engage as youth of Nigeria to think how we can bring winning solutions to these unending challenges. Come and let's discuss how to make Nigeria great again', he concluded.
