The just inaugurated Executive Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Hon. Ofem Ebri Obeten has assured the people of Yakurr of more dividends of democracy, peace and unity, which he described as bedrock of modern democractic development paradyme.
Hon. Obeten gave the assurances during his maiden meeting with Principal Officers of the Yakurr Council in his Office shortly after swearing-in in Calabar,adding that under his watch as Executive Chairman, transparency, open door policy, accountability, all inclusive government as well as staff welfare will be his watchword.
The Yakurr Council Boss lauded the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the Yakurr in particular as well as the State Working Committee of the Party under the leadership of His Excellency, Sir (Professor )Ben Ayade for keeping to the manifestoes of the great Party and by bringing Yakurr Local Government to the next level of development stressing that Yakurr people should have faith in the Governor Ben Ayade led administration for more development to come to the area.
He used the occasion to advise those using the umbrella of cultism in Yakurr to cause violence,mayhem and thuggery to turn a new leaf by joining the new train to embark on meaning ventures that will attract government’s support,pointing out that those that continue to indulge in these unwholesome activities should be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
The Chairman assured that youths, the aged and the vulnerable in the society will be given attention in his administration
and warned staff of the Council against absentism, lateness,loittering and other negative vices which are against the Civil Service rules while sueing for their co-operation and support so as to enable him achieve his lofty aspiration for the Yakurr people.
Responding on behalf of the staff, the Yakurr Council Head of Local Government Administration, Elder Paul Agboche and the Director,General Services and Administration, Elder Livinus Ogholo congratulated the Chairman and Vice for their resounding victory at the Polls and subsequent assumption of office as Executive Chairman of Yakurr local government area, pledging that the entire staff and management in particular will give all the necessary support he desire to move Yakurr Local Government Area to the next level of development.
