Microsoft has announced a highly anticipated functionality for Xbox users, allowing gamers to stream titles from their collections, even if those games are not included in the Game Pass subscription. This advancement represents a significant enhancement to Xbox’s expanding cloud gaming infrastructure. Previously, streaming options for Xbox were confined to a limited selection of titles available through Game Pass. Now, with the Game Pass Ultimate subscription, players have the capability to stream games they already own. This development provides gamers with unprecedented flexibility and access to their full gaming library.
Although this feature broadens accessibility, certain restrictions remain in place. Presently, only 50 games are supported for streaming. The initial catalogue includes critically acclaimed titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Hogwarts Legacy.
Ashley McKissick, Xbox VP, said, “Our cloud game list will grow fast. We want to give all players a wide and rich range of titles for all types of devices.”
How to Use the Feature
If you have Game Pass Ultimate, you can log in to the Xbox site to try the new tool. At this time, streaming is not yet available on the Windows or Android app for games outside of Game Pass. But Xbox has said this option will come next year.
The feature, first called “xCloud,” was set to go live in 2020. Then, delays pushed it to 2022, but again it did not launch. Now, after a long wait, the tool is finally here.
