With Erik ten Hag’s job on the line following United’s dismal display in the Premier League, coming eighth overall, the Red Devils have been proactive in looking for potential replacements.
Until now, the potential candidates have made up a four-man lineup consisting of Ipswitch Town’s Kieran McKenna, Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Bayern Munich’s outgoing manager Thomas Tuchel, and Chelsea’s recent departure Mauricio Pochettino.
However, Football365 claims that reports from Spain now suggest that United have added Xavi to the list, making contact with him following the recent announcement of his departure from Barcelona at the end of this season.
After two and a half years in charge, Xavi will be leading his final game with Barcelona on Sunday vs Sevillla, with Barcelona’s president thanking Xavi for his work as coach as well as ‘his unparalleled career as a player and captain of the team’.
Despite the interest, it’s been leaked that Xavi is not the first option for Old Trafford, with that spot being currently being held by Tuchel.
