Earlier this month, CentreDevils exclusively revealed that Manchester United were targetting two elite managers to replace Erik ten Hag.
Those were Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann, who are both currently employed elsewhere.
Alonso manages Bayer Leverkusen, having led them to an invincible campaign last season.
Meanwhile, Julian Nagelsmann is the German national team manager and targets World cup glory in 2026.
Alonso was reportedly approached by former club Liverpool in the summer, but turned down the offer to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Mail Sport have now revealed that the Spanish manager also declined the opportunity to join United and opted to remain in the Bundesliga.
He is reportedly the top candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
With 18 months left on his contract, Los Blancos are already looking at replacements for Ancelotti and could bring Alonso in as early as next summer.
Alonso joins Thomas Tuchel and Sebastian Hoeness as managers that have rejected United this year.
Tuchel was recently announced as England’s new manager, while Hoeness decided to stay at VfB Stuttgart in spite of United’s approach.

Two weeks ago, Centre Devils exclusively reported that the Red Devils plan to bring Ruud van Nistelrooy in as interim manager if Ten Hag leaves.
However, the board would prefer to appoint a more experienced manager in the permanent role.
With a shortage of elite managers available in the middle of the season, United may have to wait until next summer to find their man.
