August 24, 2024 MANHATTAN, New York – Two people were killed overnight in NYC during a fiery crash on the Henry Hudson Parkway caused by a wrong way driver who fled from the scene on foot, police said.
According to police officials, just before 2:30 a.m., a pickup truck driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes on the Henry Hudson Parkway when it struck another vehicle near exit 13, resulting in two fatalities.
Officials say two men, 38 and 40-years-old were in the car that was struck head on. The pair were in critical condition when rushed by EMS to area hospitals where they were both pronounced deceased.
Police say the wrong way pickup truck was occupied by two people who both ran from the scene. No arrests at this time.
Northbound lanes were closed near 178th Street and traffic was at a standstill for several hours as collisions investigators gathered evidence from the scene. The investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
