The January transfer window is in full swing and nobody is busier than Newcastle.

Having already landed Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid for £12million, the newly-rich Magpies are set to snap up Chris Wood from Burnley.

The 30-year-old striker will undergo a medical on Wednesday and could make his debut in the relegation six-pointer against Watford on Saturday.

Newcastle have also lodged a bid of £28million for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa have also been busy, securing the deal of the window so far by landing Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona.

The club are also chasing Lucas Digne from Everton, while Villa winger Anwar El-Ghazi looks set to go the other way and join the Toffees.

Manchester United may dip into the transfer market this month and have been linked with Tariq Lamptey.
