PLEASANTON, Calif. (TCN) — Police recently arrested a woman on suspicion of killing a 32-year-old man last year and initially claiming that two robbers were responsible.
According to the Pleasanton Police Department, on May 1, 2023, 27-year-old Kennedy Stith allegedly fatally stabbed Edevion White at a home on Owens Drive. She initially reported that a pair of robbers wearing ski masks killed White. Police did not identify Stith as a suspect early on but believed the assailant knew the victim.
KRON-TV reports that Stith and White dated, and the two lived together at the time of his death. Officers responded to their residence and found White, who was originally from Tennessee, with a stab wound to his chest.
More than a year after White’s death, police determined the robbery claim was “untrue” and named Stith as the primary suspect. On Sept. 12, law enforcement officials arrested Stith at her home in Oakland on a charge of homicide.
Stith remains held in the Alameda County Jail without bail.
