June 14, 2024 MANHATTAN, New York – A woman was killed after allegedly pushed by her son down an embankment near Riverside park in Manhattan on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police officials say 44-year-old Vianel Garcia, was involved in a verbal altercation that turned violent when she was pushed from the roadway on Riverside Drive and rolled down the grassy embankment towards the highway.
Ms. Garcia was found by first responders with critical injuries and rushed from the bottom of the hill, to Harlem Hospital but did not survive.
The 22-year-old male, presumably the son of the woman killed was taken into police custody with charges pending a full police investigation.
The incident was reported just after 4:00 p.m., near Riverside Drive and W. 165th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood of NYC.
