Manchester United have set their sights on acquiring a new Premier League star defender, and their asking price has just been revealed.
As he has been since the last transfer window closed, United boss Ruben Amorim has been searching for youthful reinforcements to bolster his squad, and one Premier League defender has just landed on his radar.
After placing only 8th overall in the Premier League last season, the Red Devils’ worst finish ever, Amorim has been under pressure from all sides to bring the club back to its former glory.
One of the ways the Portuguese manager plans to do this is through bringing in young talent to secure a successful future at Old Trafford.
Most recently, Amorim added Greek wonderkid Charalampos Kostoulas to his list of potential additions to his squad, along with many others.
And, according to The Sporting News, United have now set their sights on Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, saying “His ability to play as a wing-back makes him an ideal option for United’s evolving tactical setup”.
Given the youngster’s recent success on the pitch, Vítor Pereira’s Wolves reportedly won’t let him go for any less than £40M.
The 23 year-old French-Algerian first caught the eye of the ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo during his time as first choice left-back at PSG, and has since made 15 appearances for the Algerian national team.
This season Ait-Nouri has played in 28 Premier League games for the Wolves, picking up 3 goals and 5 assists.
However, United are not the only ones for sights set on the young defender, with other big European clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs also keen to get their hands on him.
Air-Nouri’s adaptive playing style and attacking ability from the full-back position make him a valuable asset to any Premier League squad, but Amorim will need to meet the £40M asking price soon, or risk losing out to rival clubs.
