Back in 2019, we reported a particularly obscure fighting game from the 90s known as The Fallen Angels. Even to this day, fighting game fans aren’t even sure if this game was simply released to the arcades in an unfinished state or if it was never released to begin with.

Despite the 20-year span of time that has gone by, the developers have promised to finish the game and even port it to consoles as a “complete edition.” In addition to the eight characters that are playable that do appear to be mostly finished, this full release will apparently even include four additional characters that seemingly correspond to four unfinished sprites that can be found within the game’s hidden files.

Unfortunately, we haven’t really heard anything about the game’s development since the announcement of The Fallen Angels complete edition. That announcement occurred over three years ago.

In a video uploaded by Video Game Esoterica, we can actually see the game in action. Though it’s clearly unfinished in parts, the game features some of the most beautiful and fluid sprite animation ever for a fighting game.

This certainly makes sense as Steel Hearts, the developers behind The Fallen Angels, was made up of former members of SNK. From seeing the game in action, it really is a shame that it is an unfinished game.
