Wildcats meet Brantley in final home game

Florala (5-2, 2-2 1A Region 2) will play its final home game of the regular season and attempt to take down Brantley (4-2, 3-1) for senior night on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
This will be the 32nd meeting between the two teams since they first squared off in 1943. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 27-3-1 with the Wildcats.
“Brantley will be tough. We have entered our playoffs already, as we will have to win out to control our own destiny,” Head Coach Kyle Davis said. “Brantley has been a nemesis of Florala, and we understand the magnitude of this game both this season as well as to our community. I believe we are starting to gel at the right time for this game. As with all big games, it is going to take great play in all three phases of the game, and we cannot afford another slow start like Georgiana and McKenzie. If we can protect the quarterback and football, and limit the big plays on defense, I believe we can be around in the fourth quarter and give ourselves a chance.”
Last week, Florala earned a 41-0 road shutout at Kinston. Brantley rallied past Georgiana late in the game and collected a 16-12 win.
Davis said he felt his team played their most complete game of the season at Kinston.
“The offense was in sync, and the defense fit just about all their keys. We had zero breakdowns in the kicking game. Offensively, we scored on five of our first six drives and had great pass protection as well as run blocking from the offensive line. That made it possible for our skill guys to execute their jobs. Defensively, we played lights out and produced our second shutout of the year. We have four guys in double-digit tackles and caused two turnovers,” Davis said.
Brantley edged Florala, 55-46, in an offensive shootout in 2023.
Senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members will be recognized before kickoff at 6:15 p.m.
