*’Honestly I have struggled to understand why a man will hit a woman even once and she still remain in his house…..
Some say because of the kids…my simply reply…he will kill you and another woman will punish those kids well.
Others say because of love…and I reply…he doesn’t love you at all…only a weak man without love will raise a finger on a woman…no matter the circumstance.
The last group say they will stay for financial security and probably because of fear of what the society will say at them.
The truth is that when you die…the same society will blame you for not speaking up. Trust me…that finance will no longer secure you in the grave.
Domestic violence in any form is 100% wrong. No marriage, money, or circumstance is worth your life. Forget the fear of unknown…WOMEN stay alive!’

Director General
CRS Primary Health Care Development Agency
7 May 2016.
Gov. Ben Ayade’s Aide on Primary Health Care made the above statements credited to her upon reading about one, late Ronke Bewaji Shonde, who is allegedly a fatal victim of husband-wife battering.
In the above reaction, Edu, is understood to be championing ‘leaving the house’   especially when battering of the wife is the debate. Edu takes on three set of arguments who support the battered wife staying put in the face of a batter hunger husband.
The challenge with her ‘leaving the house option’  is, is it temporary or permanent? I my chat with her, she advocated for temporarily leaving the house to douse the tension already generated.
I take sides with DG Edu. Let’s our men cease from such ignoble act of wife battering. It doesn’t speak well of masculinity in any sense. There are better means of resolving conflict instead of batter. Anger and other vicious emotional outburst should be deliberately managed.
