With its many active mechanics and diverse roster, Street Fighter 6 is proving to be a particularly wild game. Capcom developers have taken new and interesting approaches to routine fighting aspects such as meter management, and the results can sometimes lead to situations you’ll rarely see anywhere else.
That brings us to a recent bout between Broski’s A.K.I. and Kusanagi’s Ken. Despite his life bar being about 70% below his foe’s still fun one, Broski is not only able to make a comeback, he knows it’s going to happen before he even lands his first hit.
The reason Broski is able to make this callout isn’t really of a psychic nature, nor a Babe Ruth one, but rather based in the fact that Burnout is an absolutely devastating state to be in in this game, and A.K.I. absolutely excels at taking advantage of it.
We join the action with Kusanagi scoring a quick opening and confirming into his level 3 Super. This move doesn’t make full animation contact, and this may have surprised the Ken user into not quite being ready for the follow up juggle Ken can do when his level 3 lands in this way.
Kusanagi rips an OD Dragonlash that not only whiffs, but burns him out. His opponent is equally surprised, but even before Kusanagi scrambles with an ill-advised jump in an effort to steal back the momentum, Broski remarks “He’s just thrown.”
A.K.I. isn’t regarded as a top tier character in SF6 by any means, but she does unequivocally excel at burnout pressure. You lose the ability to parry, Drive Reversal, Drive Impact, or perform OD moves while burned out, plus you take chip damage and are an additional -4 when blocking incoming attacks.
Broski launches into a rather matter of fact string of pressure as he pushes his foe to the corner. Kusanagi blocks for a bit, then gets hit, then blocks again and eventually loses about half his life bar this way. The fact that he spent his entire super meter on the aforementioned level three means he has virtually no answer for the inevitable Drive Impact that then splats him into a wall stun.
While narrating in his trademark near emotionless tone, Broski proceeds to pull off A.K.I.’s longest and most damaging combo, using up all of her resources and ending with a level 3 super of her own. See how it turns out via the full clip right here:
