Why you DO NOT want to get hit by Geras when he's powered up by Ferra in Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 just got a fresh coat of paint thanks to the latest patch which brought with it two new characters in Takeda and Kameo Ferra. While we’re plenty excited for Takeda, it’s actually Ferra we’re focusing on for our purposes here.

Ferra not only buffs up your main character’s health, but she also brings back her Pain and Gain power up from her initial appearance in Mortal Kombat X. A Geras player and streamer named Domoralize has very quickly figured out a very practical Pain and Gain combo with Geras that lops off a very daunting 98%.

Power ups in Mortal Kombat have long been a little on the unbalanced side as we recently saw thanks to a historical recounting from Ketchup and Mustard. Many characters from over the years have been able to temporarily enhance themselves, and the consequences are sometimes over the top.

Geras is not regarded as one of the better characters in Mortal Kombat 1, but he can dole out the damage. When paired with Ferra, if you utilize her Pain and Gain you take 100 damage (remember having her as a Kameo instantly increases your health) but garner a damage buff for the next 10 seconds or so.

When buffed in this way, Geras can then launch into a mid-screen combo that doles out an insane 980.8 damage. That means the round is over if you’ve been hit at all before he lands this monstrosity, and perhaps Geras might be climbing the tier charts a bit thanks to this oppressive pairing.

Check out the full sequence via the clip below and let us know in the comments what you think of Ferra as a Kameo in Mortal Kombat 1 thus far. Are there other characters who you think may be able to hit even harder than Geras when under the Pain and Gain buff?
