Manchester United’s search for attacking reinforcements has led them to explore multiple options in the transfer market, but one of their key targets will not be arriving at Old Trafford.
Mathys Tel, the highly-rated Bayern Munich forward, was seen as a potential solution to United’s attacking struggles, with the club eager to add firepower to their squad.
United have lacked consistency in front of goal this season, and with Marcus Rashford departing on loan and Alejandro Garnacho’s future uncertain, Ruben Amorim has been keen to bring in reinforcements.

The club had been locked in discussions with Bayern over a potential deal for Tel, but negotiations proved to be far from straightforward.
Tel, a dynamic forward with great pace and technical ability, was reportedly open to the move, seeing United as a place where he could secure more first-team opportunities.
However, despite optimism on United’s side, the negotiations were met with resistance from Bayern’s hierarchy.
The German club has remained reluctant to part ways with Tel, who is viewed as an important long-term asset for their squad.
Despite late attempts to salvage the deal, United were unable to persuade Bayern to alter their stance, leading to the collapse of the move.

Bayern, from their side, refused to compromise, standing firm on their decision.
No agreement could be reached, not even in the final two hours of discussions, as Bayern rejected all offers confirmed by Plettigoal via X.
Despite Tel’s preference to join United, the transfer will not happen at this stage.
However, Arsenal remain in the race, along with other clubs monitoring the situation, as time runs out in the transfer window.
