Margot Robbie is living the dream, no doubt about it. The star of the Barbie movie is raking in the praise for her work, both in front of the camera and behind it.
She didn’t just act in this record-breaking film, she produced it too. And she wasn’t alone in this endeavor, her husband, Tom Ackerley, was right there with her. The Critics Choice Awards in 2024 were a testament to their hard work, with Barbie bagging a whopping 18 nominations.
The film didn’t just get nominated, it won big at the January 14 ceremony. It was even crowned Best Comedy. Robbie and Ackerley, who’ve been hitched since December 2016, are usually pretty private about their relationship. But they decided to step out together for this special occasion.
Robbie, who once swore she’d never date an actor, even gave a shout-out to her “normie” husband. He’s not one for the limelight, and she loves that about him. “I am so lucky,” she gushed to E! News’ Chief Correspondent Keltie Knight on the red carpet. “He likes being behind the camera. He’s not fazed by any of this stuff.”
She went on to share more about her hubby. “He’s just the best, it’s so fun,” she said. “I love the word ‘normie,’ yes, like all my friends, everyone’s like, ‘That’s cool what you do but it’s more fun just to hang out and talk about other stuff.’ And you’re like, ‘I know.’” For more Critics Choice Awards interviews, tune into E!
