“Media scrutiny can be harmful, but only if the relationship isn’t solid,” Lopez shared with MTV News. This was just days before her video premiered on November 5, 2002.
She admitted that she’s been in shaky relationships that the media had a field day with. However, she believes that if the relationship is strong and the focus is solely on the couple, media interference can’t do much damage.
In her opinion, if the bond is genuinely strong, external factors won’t affect it. That’s been her experience, at least.
Lopez and Affleck tried their best to maintain a semblance of normalcy, despite the challenges. They wanted to be just like any other couple, even though they knew it was a tall order.
“We do try to keep our private lives private,” Lopez confessed. It’s not always easy, and the success of their attempts often depends on whether they can sneak in and out of places unnoticed.
They go out for dinners, hang out with friends, and try to lead as normal a life as possible. They also try to enjoy the perks of being in the public eye.
“We try to make the best of it,” she added. There are times when they wish they could go to the movies without attracting a crowd. They’d love to enjoy a quiet Sunday afternoon without having to work.
But they both love what they do, and if public attention is part of it, they’re okay with that. They feel loved and are happy about it.
Oh, and by the way, Lopez was seen with a ring on her finger. She didn’t say much about it, only that she and Affleck, who were filming Kevin Smith’s Jersey Girl at the time, had discussed marriage.
