Mortal Kombat 1 has seen a number of different bugs and odd glitches throughout its lifespan already. Some unintended behavior proved problematic for competitive play, while others just brought in weird visual oddities that caused some head scratches.
While a good portion of these things have been fixed, another strange interaction was caught on film that features a very bizarre bug involving Havik in Mortal Kombat 1. This one is hilariously awesome.
This clip was recorded and shared by shinnox on Twitter. Fortunately, this bug doesn’t seem to be anything that should impact competitive or standard play as it was encountered in the latest seasonal tower and stems from a CPU opponent.
When facing a team of Havik and Kano in the tower, shinnox hit the opponent with a powerful Fatal Blow. The hard-hitting attack landed like normal, but in a strange series of events we see Havik’s body react… very weirdly to the attack.
When the cinematic portion of the attack’s animation begins, we see that Havik’s legs are completely turned around while his torso remains facing forward. Even stranger still, Havik’s legs end up totally running off on their own and disappearing while Reiko continues the attack on a disconnected Havik upper body.
This is clearly not intentional behavior, and while it might look completely random, there might actually be an explanation for why it happened this way.
From the looks of it, the CPU Havik has a status element on him that sees him get electrocuted every so often. When Reiko starts the Fatal Blow, he grabs Havik and headbutts him, which sends him stumbling back momentarily before the cinematic portion of the maneuver begins.
Right after that happens, we see Havik get zapped, which turns him around and makes him face the other way. When facing the opposite direction, Sareena launches into her portion of the Fatal Blow, which seems to cause the strange behavior and, for some reason, Havik loses his legs and they run off.

At this point, I can’t imagine this is a bug that will be patched out due to how hard it would be to recreate. It’s likely not something you’ll be running into… ever, really, but it is hilarious and makes for a great clip.
