When the people of Ogoja heard of the construction of a new Township Stadium by the former governor, they rejoiced, with smiles that burst up the Blu, but that smiles faded gradually as when the the Governor was leaving the office.
Ogoja is not only a Local Government but a province comprising of Yala, Bekwara, Obudu, Obanlikwu, Boki, and Ogoja Local Governments. The idea of building a good and a standard Stadium was a good idea as the province gathers a lot of Sporting clubs including the famous Ogoja Black Cats FC, and lots more. But leaving it in a puppy stool is what am writing about.
Sporting activities as we know is loved by many and all by youths, so engaging them in one or two activities in a standard field will encourage lovers and talented people into the game. This will in turn reduce illicit activities by youths and also drag them away from huddled activities including cultism, hoodlums, drugs addiction and much more.
I was surprised when I read through Gov. Ayade’s 2016 agenda and discovered he never mentioned anything relating to the completion or continuation of the work. This omission makes me feel that Ogoja is a half part of the state as many projects are being left half-completed.
So sad nobody could even speak about this, even our able reps including the senators and speakers of the state house. When will Ogoja grow?!
When will Ogoja grow!!!?
