The future of Ruud van Nistelrooy is now in doubt after his interim spell, with Ruben Amorim set to take over as head coach on Monday.
Although the Dutchman has expressed a desire to remain at the club, it appears increasingly likely that he will lave the club to allow Amorim a fresh start with his own team in place.
Van Nistelrooy’s time as interim manager has been short but notable.
Tasked with guiding the team after a difficult period, he has led United to an unbeaten run.
Including a vital 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League and a 5-2 Carabao Cup win over Leicester as well as a 1-1 draw against an in form Chelsea side.
His final game in charge will come this Sunday, where United will face Leicester again at Old Trafford.
With uncertainty surrounding his future, van Nistelrooy will be hoping to end his brief tenure on a positive note, securing another win to leave behind a strong legacy as interim manager.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy will be desperate to see the club he leaves in as strong of a position as possible before Amorim arrives.
His departure, though, seems inevitable as Amorim prepares to take the reins and begin his own journey with the club.
