After over a year since it was first announced and almost six years after the game first released, Dragon Ball FighterZ players are finally going to be able to try out the game with rollback netcode.
Bandai Namco previously confirmed the DBFZ public beta test for its rollback update will be dropping this week, and here’s when and how you can finally get in on the action.
Although the official messaging says the beta will be available starting November 30, many of us in the West will actually start in on it a day before.
The official start time is 7 p.m. PST / 10 p.m. EST on November 29 that will similarly last all the way until December 10 at 7 p.m. PST as well.
This beta will only be available to owners of FighterZ on Steam, so console-only players will not get to experience the 3v3 fighting game with rollback until the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions release presumably in early 2024 (Note: the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of DBFZ will not be receiving rollback).
Accessing the beta is simple to do, and you can prep your game already.
Head to the Properties tab for FighterZ in your Steam library, click on the Betas category and switch your beta participation from none to “public-beta-test – pbt”.
When it’s time, an update around the size of 3.6 GB will be downloaded for the game, and you should be able to launch its beta form and enjoy the new netcode (assuming all goes well on that end).
They’ve said players will not be able to purchase anything and saves won’t carry over between the test and full game, so it’s still a bit unclear at the moment if players will have access to all of FighterZ DLC content for the beta or just what they already have in the base title.
Similarly, we’re not entirely sure what game modes are going to be available in the beta either though we’ll update you when we learn more.
Bandai Namco will probably share more details about the full release of the rollback update on Steam as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of FighterZ at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2024 early next year.
