You only get 7 points!
Chris Matrix is one of the best Marvel vs. Capcom 2 players ever, Justin Wong is the best Marvel vs. Capcom 2 player ever, and the two of them have come together to produce a new MvC2 tier list for 2022.
Some of you might be saying, “But didn’t those two just came out with such a list about a week back?” To which the answer is yes, but the OG duo has also compiled a ratio tier list for a bit of fun. Said list ascribes a point value to each character, 0-5, depending on their overall strength, and players can only spend up to 7 points to create a team of three.
Wong actually made one of these back in 2021, but that was without the influence and input of Matrix. The two ratio lists are understandably similar, but there are a handful of differences as a few characters jump either up or down a point value and there’s only one fighter, Roll, in Wong’s 2021 chart.
Normally those who are interested primarily in winning would likely make a team out of the five or six best characters on the roster, but you surely can’t do that here. Taking one of the top tiers will cost you a whopping five points, meaning you only have two more to spend to round your team out.
It’s time to play some Moneyball with your Marvel 2 teams. Finding synergy between lower tier characters is key here as perhaps you’ll base your team around one or two particular strengths and put together a few fighters who can get the particular job done.
I played some very casual MvC2 back when I was a child and definitely got a kick out of assessing how much my team costs: a whopping three points. Wolverine, Ryu, and Venom are all one point characters here (though I did sometimes swap out Logan for Iron-Man) but also happen to be, unequivocally, the three coolest characters on the select screen.
