Manchester United’s terrible season took on a new low after a lethargic, lacklustre performance that saw them drubbed 4-0 away to Crystal Palace.

The showing and result did little to make Erik ten Hag’s case for next season as his job has been in more and more jeopardy with each passing defeat.

Such a performance and result may have done irreparable damage to the little chance he had of proceeding as manager come the new season and Man United legend Paul Scholes is of the same opinion.

Scholes exact words were the defeat was the final nail in the coffin and ten Hag is currently on borrowed time at Old Trafford.

“Tonight almost felt like a final nail in the coffin. There was a lack of knowhow in the team, a lack of effort, going to a team like Crystal Palace, who to be fair are a good team and are doing well, but Manchester United shouldn’t be going there and losing 4-0,” Scholes told Premier League Productions.

Speaking alongside Scholes, former Man United and Liverpool forward Michael Owen also expressed a similar opinion insisting how clueless and uncoached this United team looked.

“There is no way his fingerprints are anywhere near that team. He is a brilliant coach and that team is not being coached at all, “Owen stated.

It is very hard to disagree with Owen on that regard as we all witnessed how clueless and out of ideas the team looked especially without Captain Bruno Fernandes orchestrating the team.

INEOS have a major decision on ten Hag’s future whether he is the man to lead this team into a new era and actualize their vision for the club.
