Cosplay has definitely become a serious business, especially in later years, with many even opting for it as their career choice and putting unbelievable amounts of time into learning the right makeup techniques, sewing their own costumes and doing everything in their power to embody their favorite characters as much as possible.
That in itself isn’t anything new, but every now and again you spot a cosplay which makes you go “wait, really?” and this is one of those times. Although the costume is definitely high quality here, it’s not exactly the clothing that leaves us impressed…
At first brought to our attention over on X by Helsic, this is a video which features a Chinese cosplayer dressed up as the original main protagonist from King of Fighters, Kyo Kusanagi.
After some research it seems like this was originally captured from Chinese video sharing site Billibilli, though even there we weren’t quite able to ascertain the name of the cosplayer himself, unfortunately.
There’s no specific explanation on what went on here in this short clip, but just by watching it Helsic’s summation in his tweet does seem to be the case… this Chinese cosplayer seems to have learned pyrotechnics just to do a more accurate Kyo Kusanagi cosplay.
And honestly? It looks fantastic. This is exactly what I’d imagine seeing Kyo Kusanagi fight in real life would look like, so huge props to this cosplayer for pulling off something so impressive and sharing it with the world. Also big thanks to Helsic for making sure to share it to a bigger audience.
