The Executive Secretary of the Calabar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the business community of Cross River State has informed that his chamber is yet to receive, until now, the economic blueprint and budget of the present state administration led by Governor Ben Ayade. In his words, 'It's sad that the Calabar Chamber of Commerce had since received a detailed copy of the Federal Governments Economic policy & 2016 budget but cannot get its hands on a copy of the State’s policy or budget'.
According to Asim-Ittah, the government of Cross River was supposed to have submitted a copy of the economic blueprint as is the practice with the previous administrations of former Governors Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke. 'During the government of Mr Donald Duke we saw an economic blueprint which was followed up with the CR-SEEDS I documents and during Mr Liyel Imoke’s administration we saw the Economic blueprint 2007-2011 and followed up with the CR-SEEDS II document which basically outlined both administrations plans for the duration of their administrations in addition to the 24year long term plan. This is what we want to see from this government', Asim-Ittah explained.
He observed that his chamber had since received the economic blueprint and budget of the Federal Government but is still yet to receive that of the present State Government.
He announced that the website of Calabar Chamber of Commerce (www.calabarchamber.com.ng) is currently undergoing re-modelling and will be back on soon and offered to host and publish every government Expression of Interest, Call for Tenders and contract advertisements for Cross Riverians to be informed and be able to take advantage.
