CALABAR – A group identified as The All Progressive Congress (APC) Legacy Group in Cross River State, has denied what it describes as “Causing Divisive Tendency, and Factions’ ‘ amongst members Of the APC in Cross River State.
The group’s Chairman in the state, Hon. Barrister Eyo Nsa Ekpo, at a news conference in Calabar, Cross River State capital on Friday urged members of the public to disregard the “false claim” saying it had no intentions of creating factions in the party.
Eyo said that the group’s attention was drawn to a claim by people he described aa “Power mongers in the corridors of power”, that the group was considering an alliance against the party both at the National and State level.
He denied the claims being true adding that that even when there were turmoils arising from disloyalty, discontent in the party, from those who had just arrived the party, the group had worked harder than “everyone else” in delivering the party’s presidential and gubernatorial candidates in the just concluded elections.
Eyo also noted that since they had worked hard in delivering the party during the elections, it demanded the benefits of its hard work from elected officers in government. But it did not plan on creating divisive factions in the party.
His Statement reads in parts:
“This press conference becomes necessary because of the insinuations, making rounds in the public domain, particularly amongst the political class, that the APC legacy group has a dedicated tendency with the All Progressive Congress in Cross River State.
” I want to let us know that if we were not dedicated during the elections, we worked harder than every other person because even when the turmoils within the party arising from the disloyalty and discontent, especially from the group who just arrived the party as to who to support during the Elections.
” The APC Legacy group stood firmly behind Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who represents the core values and progressive minds of which a new Nigeria is birth, we remain loyal to the party and would not form a faction.”
He urged the newly elected president, and the Governor-elect not to forget their sweat and commitment they showed during the Elections.
“…Because we have worked, we are entitled to the reward system and benefits that would arise from the APC. Power mongers are sending this narrative across board to rub us of our entitlement in spite of their disdainful failure in the past administration. We remain loyal to the party leadership, but we fight for all we do not have godfather’s but our only godfather is senator Prince Edet Otu “.- He said
