Street Fighter 6 is rapidly approaching the end of its successful first season of competition, and there’s certainly going to be a lot more on the horizon this year.

Although we now know when Ed will be joining the cast for SF6 later this month, it seems we may have a better idea of when Season 2 could be coming as well.

Red Bull Gaming recently announced Red Bull Kumite 2024 to be taking place in New York from March 16–17, and some one the internet noticed some interesting wording on their official website.

“A total of 16 players will duke it out on Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 (Season 2) in a fierce battle of wills to determine the overall winner at Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse in Brooklyn.”

It’s very important to note, however, that the text has since been changed to remove the mention of Season 2, which could be due to any number of reasons including sharing information early, having outdated info, miscommunications, a simple mistake or presumptions made from past games.

If this listing was true, it would mean that SF6 Season 2 would be dropping sometime after the end of Capcom Cup X on February 25 and likely at least a week before Red Bull Kumite.

The most sensible time would be with the release of Ed on February 27, so we’d be receiving the big balance patch alongside the new character.

Capcom did release major updates for Street Fighter 5 shortly after Capcom Cup multiple times in the past though there is still an odd hang up here for SF6.

Releasing Season 2 before Kumite would either mean we’re getting Ed and Akuma back-to-back in short order, or the demon will technically be releasing in Season 2.

Considering Akuma is listed as coming in Spring 2024, which doesn’t start until March 19, it’d most likely be the latter option.

Making Akuma part of the Year 1 Character Pass but releasing for Season 2 would be weird for Street Fighter, but it’s not unheard of in other games.

Capcom releasing SF6 in the middle of last year could have also thrown their general schedules out of whack for when they typically want to do major updates as well since the developers previously said they only want to do so for SF6 only once a year.

Right after Capcom Cup would make sense because it’s right after the end of the first competitive season, but we still don’t know at this point.

Since the listing was removed, it could have just been made in error, but in case it’s not, we’ll have to keep an extra close eye on the Street Fighter finals.

Capcom Cup X is scheduled to run from February 16–25 in Hollywood California.
